The Multi-input Interactive Display Unit (MIDU) small 4.50 inch high form factor allows the device to be installed in real estate scarce flight decks. The MIDU’s high resolution display, touch screen, expanded I/O, mass storage memory, and USB port makes the device readily applicable to an array of aircraft functions. The MIDU hardware is compatible with embedded versions of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. The baseline ARINC 739 configuration employs an embedded Linux OS. The MIDU OS, operational software (OPS), and operation code (OPC) is field loadable via the USB port located on the front of the bezel or via Ethernet at the rear connector. The MIDU employs a modular design that can be easily configured with additional circuit card assemblies (CCA) for added functionality. A passive backplane provides the interconnection between the CCAs, bezel and display head assembly, and the ‘Connector/Filter’ board. A PCI express bus provides the system interface between a COTS Q7 CPU module and the system CCAs.
