Chandra balam means strength of moon

which is considered to be most important

for any good activity.

From Janma lagna and Janma rasi 6,8,12

positions of moon in Muhurta is not good.

Similarly from lagna of Muhurta

6,8,12 positions of moon

is not considered to be good.

TARABALAM Tarabalam depends on ones birth star.

Taking birth star as one count till Muhurta star

Divide the number by 9 and the

Remainder is called Tarabalam.

It has names with corresponding planetary lords

and the animal it represents .

It will give the result indicated.

Thus 3 5 and 7 stars are to be avoided

for any good work.

TARABALAM-Contd As for some classics while these are rigorously held

for first cycle, in second ( 10 to 18 ) and third cycle

(19 to 27) of stars some carry lesser evil.

Also as for the dictum of Vasishtha for the marriage

of Lord Rama – it is said that

“ Vivaho Pratyak tara shreshthah”

For marriage Pratyak tara is good.

As for some the following ghatikas at the beginning

of the star are most harmful and after these ghatikas

one may select the muhurta after proper dana

( donation). 20

Rohini , Uttara, Uttarashadha Uttarabhadra :

Fixed and are good for Foundation of cities,

Coronation , Planting Trees – Starting Permanent works

Mrugasira, Citta , Anuradha Revati -Soft and are good

for auspicious functions, wearing new clothes .

Aswani, Pushyami, Hasta, are light and

are good for sports , staring medicine, starting

industries and travels.

Arudra , Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Muula are

Sharp and are bad and evil deeds including

imprisonment.

Punarvasu Swati, Sravanam , Dhanishtha and

Satabhisham are movable stars and are good for

getting vehicles , starting gardening and going

NATURE OF STARS-2

Makha Pubba puurvhshadha and purrvabhadra

are dreadful stars and suitable for nefarious activities

– Poisoning, Imprisonment, Deceitand setting fire.

Kruttika and Visakha are mixed daily important activities

Dhanishtha to Revati are called Dhanishtha pancakam

and are not suitable for any good activities

GOOD and BAD MUHURTAS

BASED ON YEAR

1.Chaandra Maana or Lunar Year : Consists of 12 maasaa

starting with Chaitra maasa.

2.Saaurya Maana or Solar Year: It consists of 12 months

from Mesham to Meenam.

3.Saavan Maana: This year consists of 12 months of

3 days each and has 360 days.

4. Nakshatra Manaana: Each month consists of movement

of moon in the Nakshatras from Aswani to Revati

with about 324 days.

5. Baahraspatya Maana: Ths is based on movement of Guru

or Jupiter in different signs and is about 361 days

duration.

Popular Gregorian Calendar generally followed with

leap year etc. 29

GOOD & BAD MUHURTAS-2

In the years based on Baahraspatya Maana (Jupiters

position in a rasi) is linked with performing rites to

ancestors at the banks of a particular river (also called

kumbha meela) – hence it is a common custom in some

parts of India not to perform very important functions like

marriage for those living on the banks of that particular

river during that Baahraspatya Maana year and devote

the year for pitru kaarya. It is important to note that

astrology offers a solution to such situations – where

it is important to perform the marriage – by suggesting

that the above rule can be overcome by performing the

marriage at pilgrimage centers like Tirupati.

BASED ON SEASONS

In old times when the transportation was based on

slow methods like walking or bullock carts – it was

thought that daily rituals should not be disturbed by

seasons. Hence especially for pilgrims or for

people who were in religious order – a vratam called

caatur maasya vratam is prescribed. It is suggested

that for the type of people mentioned above should

be at one

place and should not travel during these four

months. As these fall in rainy season – possibly the

origin of this vratam is more of travel convenience

than based on rigorous astrological rules.

The months are mainly two types – solar based

or lunar based – in both types certain months

are prohibited for selecting a muhurta for a

good activity.

These are popularly called Suunya maasa.

They are Aani of Tamil (Mithuna maasa) and

aashaadha maasa in lunar system.

Checking the Muhurta

Chandrabalam

The muhurta raasi is to be counted from janma raasi –

If one gets 1,3,6,10,11 are supposed to be good.

Others are to be avoided. Special importance is given to

chadra ashthama – 8 for avoiding any important activity.

In Sukla paksha 2,5,9 are acceptable while in Krushna

Paksha 4 is also acceptable.

Tara balam

The muhurta star (taara) is counted from birth (janma) star

and divided by 9. The reminder gives the following results:

Pancaka rahitam 1 = Mrutyu Pnachakam ; 2 = Agni pancakam 4 = Raaja pancakam

6 = coora pancakam 8 = Rooga pancakam 44

Exemptions for Ekavimsati Dosha Chandra ashtama ( 8 th moon) – no dosha if moon is waxing

and is in benefic sign or benefic navamsa.

Tuesday is not bad after noon. ( midday).

Bad yogas ( Vishkambham etc) also are not bad after mid day.

Venus , Guru and good Mercury in lagna will remove all doshas.

Guru in lagna and navamsa lagna can alone remove all evils.

Moon or sun in 11 th removes all doshas.

If Kendras have good planets evils are removed.

Exalted planet in lagna removes all dosha.

Guru or venus in Kendra and malefics in 3,6 or 11

will remove all doshas.

UPANAYANA MUHURTA Uttarayanam is considered to be good.

Lunar months of Maagha, Phalguni, Chaitra and

vaisakha are considered to be good.

Kuja in 7 th unaspected / not associated with

benefics may give separation

Sani in 8 th specially in Kendra to Mars give

discard.

Sani in 7 th may give dissatisfaction and

unhappiness.

Sun and venus in 5, 7 or 9 th may result in lack of

marital happiness

Malefic like Mars in sukha sthana may result in

lack of marital happiness

In Bhinna ashtakavarga of Venus if 7 th has

many bindus it gives good harmony.

The 7 th house cusp falls in bad navamsa

quarrels may be frequent. 47

one can ignore graha maitri.

If Graha maitri, Rasi Dina and Mahendra kutas

are good one can ignore Rajju.

If Rasi and Rajju are good ignore Nadi kuta.

If Rasi Adhipati is same for both one can ignore Nadi kuta.
