MUET SPEAKING LESSONS
SKILLS FOR INDIVIDUAL PPRESENTATION
INTRODUCTION
1. The main aim of MUET Paper 2 is to test the communication skills of students.
2. Candidates are assessed on their to make individual presentations and take part in group discussions on contemporary issues.
3. Topics for the discussion may include socio-cultural, economic, science and technology, sports, environment, education and health issues.
4. Candidates are assessed on their commands of the language, fluency, skills in managing a discussion, and ability to fulfill the task given.
TASK A : INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATION
Candidates are given 1 Minute to read the question.
Candidates are given 2 minutes to prepare their responses to the question.
Candidates are then given 2 minutes to present.
TASK B: GROUP INTERACTION
Candidates are given 2 Minutes to prepare for a task based on a given stimulus or
topic.
The group is then given ten minutes to carry out the discussion.
After listening to everyone in the group, candidates will try to come to a consensus
during the group interaction.

TASK A: individual presentation
Preparation1. You will be given 1 minute to read the
question. Read it carefully and underline the keywords.
2. Take note of the aspects that should be included in your presentation while reading.
3. Think of as many ideas as you can for the suggestion or opinion given. Jot down the points quickly.
4. Think logically and give two or three reasons to substantiate your points.
5. Organize your points in a logical sequence.6. Include an introduction and a conclusion.
Preparing your text for presentation
1. Mind mapping• Brainstorm for ideas.• Use mind mapping to link your ideas to
the topic.• Develop your sub points and examples to
support your ideas.
2. Organise your ideas.• Organise your ideas for a more
systematic and effective presentation.• Create a structure for your presentation
–INTRODUCTION –BODY-CONCLUSION• Elaborate on each point and substantiate
with relevant examples.
PRESENTATION
1. Greet your examiners and state your suggestion or opinion.
2. Present main point and elaborate your point with plausible reasons and examples.
3. For the two-minute presentation, do not present your ideas in point form.
4. Relax and try not to be nervous.5. Speak clearly in complete sentences. Stress
words at the right places.6. Express your ideas logically and
systematically.7. Remember to make eye contact with the
examiners.8. Conclude by summarizing your points and
thanks the examiners.
