About University: Kuvempu University was established in 1987. It has been named after great writer and
poet Kuvempu. It has a distinctive academic profile, blending in itself commitment to rural ethos and a modern spirit.
The curricular and co-curricular activity on the campus is vibrant and exciting.
It is located in the sahydri region of Western Ghats. The campus is around 28 km from Shimoga city (18 km from
Bhadravathi) and only 2 km from the magnificent Bhadra Reservoir across the river Bhadra. Adjacent to the campus,
there is a Bhadra wild life sanctuary.
Nanoscience & Technology is a rapidly progressing multidisciplinary subject
covering all aspects of physics, chemistry, biology and engineering
sciences. The size dependent properties of materials in the nano regime are
being explored and utilized in almost all the existing technologies and/or
devices to enhance their efficiencies.
The course is aimed at training the students in Synthesis, Characterization
and Applications of Nanomaterials in general.
After this course students will be able to find a better placements in both
academic/ research and industries in their own areas with a specialization in
Nanoscience and Technology
M.Tech in Nanosscience & Technology course in the Kuvempu
University campus is running excellently under the efficient supervision of
course coordinator and associated faculty members.
Notable Achievements of the programme
Able to create awareness among the academic and general public in this emerging field of Nanoscience &
nanotechnology.
Able to equip students with relevant knowledge, competence, and creativity to face global challenges in the
upcoming technology to fulfill the societal needs.
Instrumentation & technical support to the researchers who are working in the area of nanotechnology in our
university and also for other institutions.
Collaboration of faculty members with IISc, NAL, BARC, NCL etc.
Through this multidisciplinary course, an opportunity is provided for basic science students to get a degree in
technology (M.Tech.), which is NOT possible in a purely technological Univ.
