We serve an awesome God. He is worthy to be
praised. He has done great things for us here at
Mount Pilgrim District Congress of Christian Edu-
cation Youth Department. He has blessed us with a
wealth of talent here in our District Congress Youth
Department. Therefore, no words can express my
feelings for the cooperation I have received from you
except “To God Be The Glory” for all the things that
He has done. Thanks to all the churches participated
in our events for making them successful. God is our Redeemer and we must continue
to be steadfast in doing the work for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I Corinthians
15:58 states, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not in
vain in the Lord.” Let us continue to love one another, be blessed, and keep on work-
ing and service God faithfully. God has crown of life prepared for all those who will
be faithful to Him. God bless you.
Thanks,
Sister Alberta Perry

Out last event for 2010 was the Super Bowl Banquet. Our youth were excited and happy, and the
attendance was amazing. Sis. Veronica H. Salary, Educator and Chairman of the Classification
Committee for the Alabama Baptist State Congress of Christian Education, was the speaker of the
hour. She was very enlightening with her theme: “Christian Youth Building Their Lives On a
Firm Foundation, The Rock Who is Jesus Christ”, taken from Matthew 7:24-27. She inspired the
youth to only build their foundation with Jesus Christ. She gave those in attendance the acronym
F.L.A.G. for their walk with Christ. F.L.A.G. stands for focus, leadership, attitude, and giving.
We must stay focused while following good leadership with a proper attitude while being a giver.
Sis. Salary ended with a motivating story about a construction worker. A construction worker had
worked for a particular company for over 40 years. He had never been rewarded for anything and
he never missed a day of work. One day he decided to retire and told his boss. His boss accepted
his retirement and decided he would take a trip out-of-town. The boss wanted someone to take
care of the company while he was gone on his trip. Because the construction worker had been
faithful and a good employee, the boss wanted the man who had retired to take care of the com-
pany while he was gone. The boss asked the man to stay on the job a while longer because he was
going to Europe. He had purchased some property and wanted the construction worker to build
his (the boss) dream house. He gave the worker his plans and told him how he wanted the home
built. The building price was no object; he just wanted it done to specifications. The worker be-
gan to build the house on dough foundation and said why should I work so hard for the boss
when he does not care and the worker started skimming on the material and started putting the
money in his pocket. He started putting second class material and second class appliances in the
house. When he finished the home it looked good on the outside, but it was built with inferior
material. The boss returned and the worker gave the boss the keys to the house. The boss told the
worker he did a good job. As he turned to walk away, the boss called him back and gave the
worker the keys. He told him the house he built was actually his retirement gift. It is completely
paid for and the worker could move his family in. The man dropped his head in shame because
he knew what he had built was inferior. The house you are building now is yours so make sure
you build it with care and on a solid foundation. Every child of God needs to build their lives on
Christ.
Trophies were presented to the Bible Bowl Champions: First Baptist Church of Zion City - 1st Place; Mt.
Olive Baptist Church, Kingston – 2nd Place; and New Mt. Moriah, Hueytown – 3rd Place. The most valuable
players also received special recognition with an MVP MP3 Player for their hard work. The most valu-
able players are: Bro. Kedrick Holder, First Baptist Church of Zion City – 1st; Bro. Isaiah Glasgow, Mt.
Olive Baptist Church, Kingston – 2nd; and Bro. Kiante Mitchell, New Mt. Moriah, Hueytown – 3rd. We
would also like to thank Sis. Carolyn Dowdell for all of the wonderful door prizes that were given out
at the banquet. Additionally, we would like to especially thank SIS. Vanessa Tolbert for preparation of

We would like to continue to encourage our youth to use their talents for Jesus. Only what
you do for Christ will last. Continue to work hard and do your best at all times. You will
need God throughout your life. As Christians we are to let our lights shine. In Matthew 5:16
Jesus said “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify
your Father which is in heaven.”

Continue to pray for the success of our Youth Ministry here at Mt. Pilgrim District Congress. Remem-
ber that our God is faithful. His promises are true, with love that never ends. He sent His son for
YOU. What comfort it is to know He hears our faithful prayer. What a lift it is to have a God who puts
us in His care. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Remember the mission
of the Church is to teach and make disciples of men. Matthew 28:19-20.
Bible Bowl Scriptures for 2011 are: Joshua 1-15; Judges 1-15; Luke 1-14; and John 1-15.
