September has arrived and along with it the “Campaign Season”
On September 14, 2016, we will welcome our Associate member
Kevin Moss and Jessica Davidson, an active Republican friend and
mother from Keizer, to relate their experiences in Cleveland, Ohio,
at the National Republican Convention, July 18 – 21, 2016. Both
were elected as Alternate Delegates and were able to take part in
all of the related activities. What was the mood of the other
delegates attending? Which speakers were the most meaningful?
Was the TV coverage truthful and accurate? Was Cleveland a
good convention host? All this and more will be shared at
Francis Xavier’s Restaurant, 1933 N. E. 181st Ave., conveniently
located on the corner of N.E. 181st and San Rafael Street, just
South of the I-84 Freeway. No reservations are required and there
is plenty of free parking.
Please arrive early to visit, sign the guestbook, and make your
choice from their delicious full service menu (breakfast served all
day). Our Business Meeting opens at 11:30 AM with our
speakers to follow at approximately 12:15 PM. We always have
time for questions and discussion regarding the latest political
information. Both man and women are encouraged to attend.
Our goal is to communicate, educate and continue to promote a
Conservative Government. As Oregonians, we must all do our part
to preserve our United States of America. Call and volunteer to put
up signs, talk to your neighbors, friends, co-workers, gym-mates
and all others. Higher taxes and government mandates are not the
American way. We need to help rebuild our small businesses so
that they may grow and prosper and create more jobs for others.
Elections are not won on Election Day – but through the work in the months leading up to it.

Hats off to our Favorite Democrat – that thinks &
acts like a Republican!!! Betsy Johnson, State
Senator District #16, from Scappoose wrote a
sensible piece in the Oregonian about a ballot
measure Senate Bill 439, IP-67, that will appear
on the November 8 ballot. A proposal to take
$22 million a year from the Lottery’s Economic
Development Fund and spend it on Outdoor
School for fifth and sixth graders. This would
jeopardize some valuable working programs.
She praised Sen. Kim Thatcher, the only No vote
in the Senate, for seeing through all the rosy hues
and promises for the truth, more taxes for the
people.
Tuesday, September 6th, Boring Community Planning Organization (CPO)
Meeting. Doors open at 6 PM with meeting at 7 PM. Boring Fire Station on

most bad government results from too much
government.” Thomas Jefferson
The last day to register to vote is October 18, 2016. Voter registration froms will be available at our meetings and at all public
libraries as well as online. Please pick up one or two to have on hand when your aunt, unlce, friend or neighbor says “I’m not
registered to vote.” It is a wonderful 18th Birthday card enclosure as well. Citizens cannot express their opinions if they don’t vote and must accept the consequences of their absence at the polls.

The stakes are high for this November 8 Election.
The newly elected President will have the
opportunity to select, for congressional approval,
at least three Supreme Court Justices whose
decisions will guide the future of our country. We
will be long gone, but our children and
grandchildnen will have to live under their
decisions. It is vitally important that everyone
realize the future of our United States and the
Constitution is at stake. At this time many
decisions are pending due to the 4-4 tie vote. Our
First Amendment, Freedom of Speech rights which
include, religious freedoms, are threatened. Our
Second Amendment, Right to Bear Arms is in
danger of disappearing. The death penalty,
affirmative action, immigration and voting laws
are all equally in danger.
We can only hope the new Justices will follow
in Justice Antonin Scalia’s footsteps by “The
meaning of laws is fixed by the meaning ascribed
to their words at the time they were enacted”. In
other words, the meaning of the words should not
be changed or be creatively interpreted in any
other way.
We must preserve the structure of our
government under the Constitution which is
designed to prevent accumulation of power and
oppression of the people. The Constitution
separates powers between the Executive,
Legislative and Judicial branches of the Federal
Government. These protections are under threat
today. Future cases would be jeopardized by an
uneven Liberal or Conservative balance. This
could be the most legally significant event for our
country in generations.

In the words of Supreme Court Justice
Clarence Thomas, “the words duty Honor,
country used to mean something, to signify
citizen responsibility but now that’s a
bygone era.”
A Patriotic Reminder: Have you been writing “In God We Trust” on all your envelopes? A
lot of us have forgotten to do this. One of our favorite members, Jefferson County
Commissioner Mae Huston, always proudly writes patriotic messages on her outgoing mail. A simple statement sharing our love of country and our pride in making it great again sends a message to all it passes through. We should
all follow her example.
While on your travels during these past Summer months, did you remember to gather the small containers of soap, lotion and shampoo for our
ongoing Pregnancy Resource Centers Community Service Project? Please bring them to our meeting
and they will be delivered promptly.
Our next Executive Board meeting will be September 28,
2016, 11 AM at Elmer’s in
Gresham.
Ben Franklin was asked at the end of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, “What was accomplished? “ He replied
“A Republic, if you can keep it.”
Please share your extra love, hugs, smiles and prayers with those members and their families, who just need a little extra TLC to cope with their heavy
burdens.
