Christian Spiritual Renewal in a Unique Victorian Setting

“Christian spiritual renewal in a

unique Victorian setting” Since 1892 Christian people have gathered in Mt. Gretna during the summer for a time of spiritual, and sometimes physical, renewal. Since 1899 they have gathered in the structure that still stands today and is known as “The Tabernacle.” The denomination’s Commission on Archives and History recognized the significance of this history several years ago when the Tabernacle was designated “United Methodist Historic Site-No. 360”. The uninterrupted series of summer-time programs of worship, teaching, and music, along with the architectural integrity of the cottages, has now been recognized by the National Park Service as well. The Mt. Gretna Campmeeting was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in September, 2012. While many things have changed since its establishment, the Mt. Gretna Campmeeting has been honored for retaining its appearance and its original spiritual function.

Parking Information

Mt. Gretna is a busy, sometimes nearly overwhelmed, community on summer evenings. Activities, including the Bible Festival, are occurring at both ends of town and along Route 117. That can make parking difficult to find.

To ease your parking con-cerns and make your visit to the Bible Festival the fully refreshing experience you want it to be, we suggest you come early and enjoy a stroll through the campmeeting and Mt. Gretna’s beautiful streets or a quiet time at the Tabernacle. That way, you should be more readily able to find parking at one of the four locations indicated on the map to the right.

We urge as well that you observe all “No Parking” signs. The West Cornwall Township police are enforcing them. When large crowds are anticipated, local fire police will be on hand to assist with parking. There are three Bible Festival parking areas and a handicapped area:

MAIN PARKING – behind Mt. Gretna Fire Co. Accessed from the Boulevard, just east of the Campmeeting off Route 117. Parking GPS Address: 41 Boulevard St., Mt. Gretna, PA 17064

Both sides of Route 117 (this is shared with other Mt. Gretna activities) First St., below the Tabernacle - limited parking. Buses and vans are encouraged

to park behind the garages on First St.

Mt. Gretna United Methodist Church, 4th St. & Boehm Ave. Reserved for bus drop-off, handicapped and persons with great difficulty walking.
