Come and learn about our liturgy through an Explan-atory Mass. Two separate Explanatory Mass sessions will be held from 9-10 a.m. and again from 10:45-11:30 a.m. given by Fr. Paul Berny and Kathy Kuczka. Please note: This is not a real Mass and does not take the place of a weekend Mass.

Join your fellow parishioners at the World Famous Lenten Fish Fry, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. We will be serv-ing each Friday during Lent except Good Friday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. For our younger parish-ioners we will have popcorn shrimp and mac and cheese. Lemonade and ice tea will be available. In addition to the dessert provided from Alpine Bakery, there will be homemade baked goods offered for a dona-tion to the PR Mission Trip The cost is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors over 60, $5 for children under 12. Our Next Blood Drive is Coming Up!Sunday, March 22Every two seconds, someone in the US needs blood. That’s why St Thomas Aquinas is on a mission to help save lives by hosting blood drives. Our next blood drive will be Sunday, March 22. You are invited to take part in this important event and donate blood for hospital patients across the nation. The need for blood is constant, but only 3% of the US population donates. By rolling up a sleeve, you as a donor, can play a critical role in the treatment of accident and burn victims, heart surgery, and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease. To make an appointment or to learn more, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), Completion of a RapidPass online health history question-naire found at RedCrossBlood.org/rapidpass is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. A blood donor card or driver’s license is required at check in. All donors will receive a special t-shirt as a thank you at this drive.Remember, one pint of blood can save up to three lives!

Due to the coronavirus, we are asked not to hold hands during the Lord’s Prayer and not to shake hands during the sign of peace. • The Archdiocese has decided to suspend the partaking in the Precious Blood for the time being. We will partake in the sacred meal through the Body of Christ. • You are encouraged to receive communion in the hand rather than on the tongue.

When I was a child, I nearly drowned. I was playing in the Atlantic Ocean at Jones Beach, Long Island when I ventured a bit too far from shore. I was

not a great swimmer and when I saw that big wave coming, I panicked. Seeing the fear on my face, my aunt Carolyn yelled, “Just let go and ride the wave.” I did and it carried me safely to shore. Water is powerful.

The power of water prompts surrender. I consider the glorious and breathtaking sights of nature, such as the Grand Canyon, that have been carved and molded by water and I marvel at the power of water to reshape and reform. Water changes things.

In Today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the Samaritan woman that he is the “Living water.” Allowing herself to surrender to this liv-ing water, the Samaritan woman is changed. In her encoun-ter with Jesus, the woman’s story is rewritten. Freed from her past, she can now live in newness and joy.

This Gospel, which appears in year A of our lectionary, is always proclaimed on the third Sunday in Lent when there is a Scrutiny Rite for our Elect. This reading is particularly appropriate for the Elect, who are preparing for baptism, and who, like the Samaritan woman, long to be changed by knowing Jesus.

Because we are currently in year A, all of us will hear this Gospel this weekend. May we who are already baptized be moved to surrender to a deeper encounter with Jesus. May we, like the Samaritan woman, allow Jesus to rewrite our story. In the trials and turmoil of life, may we trust the grace of our baptism to carry us safely to shore.

LITURGY / SAFE HAVEN SUNDAYThe Amen CornerKathy Kuczka

Safe Haven Sunday Parent MeetingSunday, March 15Join us today in the room 204 for an engaging discussion with Dr. Ricardo Lu-zondo, Parish Director of Discipleship & Stewardship, addressing the harmfulness of pornography in marriages, families, and our culture as a whole, with resourc-es for you featuring: CONFIDENT: Helping Parents Navigate Online Expo-sure.The constant flood of influence that comes through the internet and social media in all of its various forms, along with social pressures from peers make it difficult for children to live virtuous and holy lives. In the digital age, it’s not a matter of if your child will see something inappropriate online. It’s only a matter of when. Regrettably, internet pornography is teaching our children how and what to think about sex and marriage. Next Sunday, March 22, St. Thomas Aquinas will celebrate our second annual Safe Haven Sunday. This weekend of aware-ness will provide free resources to give you confidence for how to talk to your children about internet dangers, as well as their personal online and offline choic-es. Please join us in the room 204today as we prepare for Safe Haven Sunday
