Graphical modelers create realistic-looking models, but they can quickly become overly complex, making it difficult to verify the results on a low level. Engineers need an “in-between” product, and with MSC’s Office Toolkit, they have it. MSC Sinda Office Toolkit has two tools to help develop MSC Sinda models using Microsoft Office. With these tools, you can create or modify MSC Sinda models in a convenient, user-friendly environment. While not meant to replace existing methods of model creation, the MSC Sinda Office Toolkit will allow the use of either Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Visio for MSC Sinda thermal model development. Version 2.0 provides model units on all screens, material objects/library that nodes and conduc- tors can utilize and thermostatically controlled power with on/off, proportional and PID controllers. With the Visio Add-on You Can Easily create schematic representations of MSC Sinda thermal models. Import existing .SIN and .DAT models for clearer visualization of hand built models. Create .SIN files that can be run in MSC Sinda. View heat flows and temperature data from steady-state and transient routines on the actual schematic. Color code the nodes based on temperatures. Modify models and compare changes between simulations. OverviewThe text editor approach to developing thermal models creates a Sinda file containing all of the information necessary for a simulation, but it is tedious and requires extremely precise formatting.

Version 2.0 provides model units on all screens, material objects/library that nodes and conduc-tors can utilize and thermostatically controlled power with on/off, proportional and PID controllers.

With the Visio Add-on You CanEasily• create schematic representations of MSC Sinda thermal models.

Import• existing .SIN and .DAT models for clearer visualization of hand built models.

Create• .SIN files that can be run in MSC Sinda.

View• heat flows and temperature data from steady-state and transient routines on the actual schematic.

Color code• the nodes based on temperatures.

Modify• models and compare changes between simulations.

Office Toolkit Rapid Concept FeasibilityCreates hand models for management •review of new concepts in one 10th of the time using normal methods

Decreases the amount of time to market for •new products or product elements

Rapid Concept Visualization – creates clear, •color coded schematics for easy review by management

Allows management to review more •innovating ideas in a shorter period of time

Allows thermal engineers to quickly convert •ideas into models, verify new concepts, and perform what-if studies

Very short learning curve by using •Microsoft Visio to create hand models

Inexpensive Experimentation – less time •invested and more concepts reviewed
