Happy Retirement Ms. Jerre! On September 12, 1972, Mrs. Jerre Michelin began her employment at Northwestern University. Through the years, Ms. Jerre was known for her sincere dedication to students, particularly within the African American community. She is highly regarded among students and alumni, who consistently express great apprecia-tion for her time, compassion, and com-mitment. Those of us who had the opportuni-ty to work closely with Ms. Jerre really appreci-ated her calm presence, wisdom, and support.

It is a pretty amazing accomplishment to celebrate over 40 years of service and it was an honor to extend best wishes to Ms. Jerre as she retired from Northwestern to begin the next phase of her life!

Greetings!

As the Assistant Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, I am excited to share our efforts to create and sustain a welcoming and stimulating campus. We have established the University Diversity Council which advises the President and Provost on issues related to diversity and inclusion. This Council oversees five workgroups comprised of students, faculty, staff, and alumni that discuss and identify efforts to embrace the vast array of social and cultural aspects of our community. Group members have been meeting over the past several months and are building upon past successes and developing new ideas that will truly allow us to experience the benefits of a diverse and inclusive community. The commitment and energy of those involved on the Council, the workgroups, and other supporters of this work, is inspiring. We look forward to results of these efforts positively impacting the lives of the Northwestern community members and I will share more specific information in the coming months.

Go Cats!
