Accelerated Reader (AR)• What is AR?
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading program to enrich our language arts curriculum while fostering a love of reading. Students read books at their reading/interest level and take an online quiz to reinforce reading comprehension. Each book and quiz has a given point value that students accrue throughout the school year. Basically…
9
Accelerated Reader (AR)
1. Students read an AR book at their reading level (not all books have an AR quiz).
http://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.aspx
2. They log into AR and take a reading
comprehension quiz (independently).
3. The students accumulate points only if
they score 80 - 100% on their quiz.
4. After a student accumulates 5 points (10
books @ 100% each) they receive a
prize at flag salute or library.

What is Common CoreMission StatementThe Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear
understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy.
Common StandardsBuilding on the excellent foundation of standards states have laid, the
Common Core State Standards are the first step in providing our young people with a high-quality education. It should be clear to every student, parent, and teacher what the standards of success are in every school.
