We encourage students, staff and families if you see something, to say something. We also embrace student leadership: students taking ownership of their learning, practicing kindness and following the Habits of Highly Effective Kids. This past week we celebrated Peace Week and varied acts of kindness found throughout the school. Our next initiative in kindness is "Just Say Hello"; where students will support their classmates in feeling accepted and supported. We are continuously working on teaching our students the importance of using kind words. In school, students have been setting their WIG's, Wildly Important Goals. They have finished the i-Ready Diagnostic and are working on setting their personal goals. Students are "striving for 45" minutes per week of usage with a seventy percent accuracy and competing with other classes in their grade level towards this goal. This relates perfectly to Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind. This habit teaches students to set goals, both academically and personally. We encourage children to practice goal setting at home as well by stating a goal and planning specific steps to achieving it. The i-Ready program moves students at their own learning pace and can be completed both at school and at home. Our Student Council supported our neighbors in the Bahamas by organizing our first fundraiser for the Hurricane Dorian relief fund to show acts of kindness to the families that were impacted by the storm. It's amazing what kids helping kids can do. In November the Student Council will take part in our zone initiative by supporting the annual Harvest Drive. Great job Student Council! The Western Innovation Zone is working together again this year to offer parents information and support with important topics. The Western Zone is comprised of Fox Trail, Silver Ridge, and Flamingo Elementary, Indian Ridge Middle and Western High School. Our first parent, community meeting will be at Western HS on October 15th at 5:00 PM to discuss the important topic of "Vaping". Our second meeting will be in November to highlight the Harvest Drive. Fox Trail invites everyone to get involved in the many focus groups designed to improve student performance and achievement. These opportunities include joining us for meetings such as PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association), SAC (Student Advisory Council) and SAF (School Advisory Forum). We've already held the first SAC and SAF meetings and information was shared about the school improvement plan, calendar, code of conduct and the school wide positive behavior plan. Our PTSA hit the ground running with their many volunteer meetings, including the Volunteer Breakfast, Meet the Masters Training, Room Parent Training and fundraising informational meetings. Our PTSA is the heart of our school and we highly encourage everyone to join and get involved. We are excited about our many upcoming activities, events and opportunities this Fall for you to get involved in your child’s school and learn relevant information. Your Lead Learners, Ms. Lynn Burgess, Principal, Mrs. Suzanne Nelson and Mrs. Christina Monroe, Assistant Principals

“Learn Today~Lead Tomorrow”

What an exciting, busy start to our school year! At Fox Trail we focus on student learning each and every day in a safe learning environment.

The i-Ready program moves students at their own learning pace and can be completed both at school and at home.

Our Student Council supported our neighbors in the Bahamas by organizing our first fundraiser for the Hurricane Dorian relief fund to show acts of kindness to the families that were impacted by the storm. Absence Reports/ Broward Truancy Program Broward Truancy Intervention Program is a joint partnership program of the Broward State attorney’s Office and the School Board of Broward County. The program is designed to prevent excessive absence through parent notification and accountability, school interventions, and daily monitoring of attendance. Parents are expected to communicate with school personnel regarding absences. Parents who do not comply are referred to the State Attorney’s Office for failure to comply with F.S. 1003.27 which provides that a parent commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided by law, if the parent refuses or fails to have a child attend school regularly or refuses to participate in meeting concerning the child’s truancy. What Is A Pattern of Non Attendance IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO BE IN SCHOOL EVERY DAY, ALL DAY! If your child is not in school, he or she MAY BE showing early signs of truancy through a pattern of non-attendance. A student may be establishing a pattern of non-attendance when he or she has an accumulation of tardiness, early sign outs, and/or unexcused absences that exceed 5 days in one marking period or 10 days in 2 marking periods. EARLY SIGN OUTS When students are signed out early on an ongoing basis, their academic performance may be negatively impacted. The school system strongly encourages parents to ensure their student is in school for the full school day every day.

Technology Usage Students have the right to use appropriate online communications and information systems, the Internet and networks. They have a responsibility to understand the difference between appropriate and unacceptable uses of online communications. We encourage all parents and families to monitor your child's social media usage.
