Mrs Coy’s 2 nd Graders Things are GREAT in Room 8! We are off to an AMAZING start in Mrs. Coy’s 2nd grade class! Students have done a great job with our school-wide expectations and have shown a huge interest in the second grade curriculum. This quarter we will be learning about animals and their habitats, safety (including fire safety, playground safety, and stranger danger), and addition and subtraction strategies. We will also be diving into our new handwriting, spelling and reading curriculums. Make sure that your student is reading on a daily basis and practicing some basic math facts. Flashcards are a great way to practice! IMPORTANT!!! If you would like a paper copy of the Panther Tales Newsletter, please let the office know. August 28, 2014 “Tell me and I forget. Congratulations  to    Mrs.  Helmick’s

Kindergarten  Class  Panther  Pride  Classroom  of  the  Week!

Here  are  a  few  reminders  to  help  keep  the  school  year  running

smoothly.

• Please  check  in  with  the  office  after  you  are  buzzed  in  every  time  you  come  into  the  building.    We  want  to  be  able  to  greet  you  and  be  aware  of  who  is  in  our  building  at  all  times.

 • Students  enter  and  exit  the  building  through

their  assigned  grade  level  doors.    This  keeps  us  from  having  congested  hallways  and  doors  during  those  busy  times.

 • School  hours:    8:00  a.m.  -‐  3:10  p.m.    Students

should  not  be  arriving  before  7:50  a.m.  unless  they  are  eating  breakfast.    Breakfast  starts  at  7:30  a.m.  and  ends  at  7:50  a.m.

 • If  your  child  will  be  absent  or  tardy  for  any

reason,  please  call  the  office  at  402-‐293-‐4510  and  let  us  know,  otherwise  we  will  call  you.

Belleaire  Carnival

Please  join  us  for  a  night  of  fun  at  the  Belleaire  Carnival.    There  will  be  fun  for  all  ages  with  some  new  fall  games.

Friday,  September  26th  5:00-‐8:00  p.m.

DROP  OFF/PICK-‐UP  LANE

The  pick-‐up  lane  must  remain  clear  before  2:40  p.m.    Preschool  buses  will  be  picking  up  students  at  2:30  and  need  clear  access  to  the  front.    Students  should  load  into  vehicles  when  cars  in  the  pick-‐up  lane  are  completely  stopped.    Please  do  not  drive  around  other  cars  to  move  ahead  in  line.    Vehicles  in  front  of  the  line  will  be  encouraged  to  move  up  when  there  is  room  to  do  so.    Please  remember  not  to  park  in  the  bus/pick-‐up  lane  to  enter  the  building  or  to  wait  outside  of  an  exit  door.    If  you  are  dropping  your  child  off  or  picking  up  your  child,  please  park  in  a  stall  on  the  east  side  of  the  building.    If  you  are  parking  in  the  east  parking  lot  and  waiting  for  your  child  to  make  his/her  way  to  your  vehicle,  please  make  sure  that  your  child  is  not  crossing  in-‐between  cars  in  the  pick-‐up  lane.    For  their  safety,  students  are  required  to  use  the  crosswalks  at  all  times.    Drivers  are  asked  to  TURN  ON  BLINKERS  when  ready  to  exit  the  pick-‐up  lane,  so  that  staff  may  assist  in  securing  a  safe  departure.    If  you  have  any  questions  feel  free  to  contact  us!

A Note From Mrs. Jeanetta It has been really wonderful seeing everyone after the summer break. Those of you that have seen me at different stores know that I always ask, "What are you reading?" This year, I will be getting to work with even more students in different classrooms, so have your answer ready. I am just finishing The Time Traveler's Wife. It is a really good adult fiction book. Any suggestions for what I should read next? Keep reading & hope to see you at the Bellevue Library.
