Start of Class ExpectationStudents will start class each day with a

bell-ringer activity.

Many of these activities will be written in their composition notebook and graded weekly.

Past Bell ringers will be housed in the back of the GREEN binder by the east door of the classroom.

Daily Agenda The daily/weekly agenda will be

posted on the ENTRANCE Clipboard and on the screen or written on the dry erase board. It will also be posted by date on WordPress as “Weekly Agenda & date.” Past weekly agenda’s will be housed in the front part of the GREEN binder located by the ENTRANCE door to the classroom.

Student Planner

Students complete daily by writing down any homework or upcoming projects.

Weekly homework assignments are posted on Monday each week and located under the frog poster on white board.

Students can check their planner at the end of each day and take home only the items needed for homework that night.

Assignments Most assignments done in my room are lab or

group activities.

Many of those assignments are not easy to make up if a student misses school.

Assignments not collected in the class assigned, are due the next class day when class starts.

More time is given to complete projects.

Completed assignments are often needed for discussion in class and may not be subject to being turned in late.

Assignments cont. I will accept up to three late homework

assignments per term, the morning after they

are due, for full credit.

Students must take the responsibility to come to

my room to turn in the work before school starts.

Students may turn in LATE assignments after the bell rings and before the end of school that

second day and are considered LATE for half

credit. After that one point will be assigned as the final score.

Homework Help Students may use outside resources to help

them complete assignments.

Textbooks

Other resource books

Parents

Computer

Other Students: Students may work cooperatively

with other students as well.

Simply copying assignments is NOT working

cooperatively with others!

Science FolderKeep all science work completed, in

progress and graded in the science

folder for the entire semester.

Many assignments are used more than

once.

When in doubt, DON’T throw it out!

Extra copies Ideally an original copy should be kept.

Emergency extra copies of recent

assignments will be kept in a RED FABRIC

HANGING FILE in classroom.

Most assignments will be posted on

WordPress and can be downloaded that

way as well.

http://apps.gcsc.k12.in.us/blogs/bgreene/

ABSENT? The daily and weekly agenda with assignments

will be filed daily in the green binder by the east

door of the classroom.

Students are responsible for getting that

information and completing the work as

directed.

Students should meet with me briefly at the end

of class the day they return for updates.

Students are usually given one extra day for each

day missed.

Extra Credit I expect students to give 100% each and every

day of the year and I express this principle to the

students often! With that in mind, please note that I do not allow a student to do extra work at

the end of a term to simply bring up a grade. I

stress this in the beginning to avoid any

confusion at grade time!

Science Grade Grades are balanced over the course of the nine

week term and are a reflection of the students demonstration and understanding of the material and standards.

Mid-term ore daily PowerSchool checks offer only a small glimpse of the bigger picture that is not final until the end of the term.

Grades are entered as often as possible and usually updated at least once every two to three days.

If your student has a ZERO for their grade, that means that he/she has NOT turned in that assignment.

Science Grade cont. Heavier weighted assignments like tests or projects

may not be posted until the end of a term.

Assignments not collected in class the day assigned

are usually due the next class day.

I will however, accept up to three assignments per

student per term, the next morning for full credit and

up to one day late for half credit. A zero signifies work

that can be completed and ONE point signifies an

assignment that was turned in more than three weeks

late.

CommunicationCommunication is the key to any great relationship. When in

doubt, ASK your student or ASK me!

I can be reached by email and voicemail . You can expect a

reply during the school week within 24 hours and by Monday evening if

over the weekend.

During the school day, the fastest way to reach me is by email.

I encourage my students to use one or all of these methods as well. And

am a firm believer in teaching students how to become good

responsible communicators.

nicely divided into groups that work well together

and insure optimal learning of all the areas in the

7th Grade science curriculum. We call these

groups Units And all learning activities and

assessments are planned with the understanding

and demonstration of these concepts and skills.
