Courses Green Scholars 1.0 & 2.0

Descriptions


An environmental sustainability course designed to integrate:

• STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math)

• 21st-Century Skills• Environmental Literacy• Service-Learning

Methods of learning include dynamic educational practices, including project management, experiential education, community service learning (CSL) and inquiry-based learning.



Green Scholars 1.0 - PHILOSOPHY


Students are inherently curious, creative and eager to solve problems, therefore, Green Scholars 1.0 & 2.0—in collaboration with community partners and the service learning model—cultivate empowered, informed and progressive student entrepreneurial leaders who will be equipped to face 21st century environmental challenges.



Green Scholars 1.0 – HOW IT WORKS


• Scholars are selected to work with individual teachers who fill the “Advisor” role.

• Advisors are teachers or staff members that have shared interest in helping to create a more sustainable world.

• The advisor plays the role of facilitator, one that should be careful not to provide the Scholar answers rather more questions to excite further exploration.

• Students also identify and work with a partner in the school/community.
