The objective is to build capacity/skills of high level manpower to meet international standards especially in the Oil & Gas sector.

The scholarship is valued at $30,000.00 per student annually

The NDDC Regional Free Health Care Delivery Scheme covered a total of sixty (60) medical missions across the nine (9) states and over five hundred thousand patients were treated while over one million (1,000,000) household were educated on healthy living skills.

The Commission advanced work on the construction of three (3) Specialist Hospitals in Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Rivers.

Also NDDC is partnering the State Governments in building Maternal & Child Hospitals in the Niger Delta Region

NDDC in partnership with the Bank of Agriculture set up a Credit & Entrepreneurial Development Scheme

NDDC has deposited N975million for disbursement to 376 cooperative societies in the Niger Delta Region

NDDC and Cross River State Government is partnering to rehabilitate the State Poultry / Hatchery factory

Work is ongoing on the180tonnes/day Rice Processing Plant at Elele Alimini, Rivers State


Supply of 304 sets of Swaraj Workhorse Model 978 (2WD/74HP) with sunshield canopy Tractors to the NDR States

11 Staff of NDDC were trained in India on the operation and maintenance of the tractors

NDDC in partnership with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) embarked on Skills Development Training for Rural Women and Young Girls in the Niger Delta Region.

The objective of the partnership is to provide skills that will women to make them employable.

A total of 1,620 women benefitted from the initiative.

NDDC contributed N536m while SPDC contributed N100m.

Oil Spill Investigation: Shell Bonga Oil Spill – Consistent with its mandate, the Commission engaged the services of an environmental consultant to carry out an independent investigation on the Shell Bonga Oil spill

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Studies: The Commission carried out EIA studies of 59 major projects during the period under review. The Commission has however published the EIA Reports for nine of the projects.

Health, Safety & Environment / Environmental Monitoring of Projects (HSE / EMP). The Commission has awarded the consultancy for HSE/EMP of eight (8) major projects. The purpose of HSE/EMP is to implement a method of systematic identifying, assessing and controlling hazards that may arise from projects execution.
