4.2.2 Openings in the Centre The openings in the central stack are worthy of separate consideration from those in the wings in that they are larger, and also are close to the building’s façade.
In general, the procedures for forming these openings will be as per the wings. As can be seen from Figure 8, the boundary conditions around the opening are, however, different from the openings in the wings.
On the east and west sides of the openings, the condition is as per the wings. On the south side, a 1.5 m cantilever is to be formed from where the slab is cut. Assessment of the existing structural system indicates that a cantilever of this length is acceptable without additional strengthening works.
On the north side, a 1.0 m offset from the fin column has been allowed for in order to minimise any interference with the façade and its support. This will
