Frequently Asked Questions

For more information regarding housing and policies, please see usciences.edu/reslife or email [email protected]

What furniture is provided in every resident’s room? Each student will have a desk, desk chair, closet or wardrobe, dresser, and bed in the room. If living in a Quadruple or Triple occupancy room, beds will be bunked.

What is the average size of a room?Typically, rooms are 17’ x 13’ but can vary (i.e. a Triple occupancy room will be slightly bigger).

Are microwaves permitted in the residence halls? No, but students may rent and/or purchase a MicroFridge through the university’s approved vendor: www.mymicrofridge.com

How about Refrigerators?Yes, but the fridge must be under 3.1 cubic feet. Consider renting or purchasing MicroFridge to save the hassle and room space!

When will I receive my housing assignment and room information?Housing Assignments are issued to students in mid/late July. An email will be sent to your USciences e-mail account that contains all information needed for move-in. Students’ USciences e-mail addresses are activated during the orientation sessions.

Can I change my room or roommate?Unfortunately, once students receive their housingassignments, no changes will be made by the Department of Student Life. Students are permitted to request a room change the week after drop/add period.

How will I know if I received the building, room type or roommate I requested through the online preference application?Students will receive confirmation of their rooms in mid/late July. Please note that we will do our very best to honor all room requests, but due to limited availability of highly desirable rooms, that may not be possible.

What if paid my housing deposit, but now I realize that I don’t want to reside on campus?Payment of a housing deposit binds students to the two year housing agreement. The University requires all first and second year students below the age of 21 and/or with a permanent address beyond 30 miles of the university at the time of enrollment deposit to reside on-campus. The permanent address of students must be the same address provided by a parent or legal guardian at the time of enrollment. Students are only considered for an exemption from housing if they display significant financial hardship.Housing exemptions are very rare.
