Moving Forward letter

To whom it may concern: New York is the most competitive city in the world, and businesses that hope to succeed here must operate smoothly and efficiently to remain competitive. Moving offices is a crucial time for these companies, and they need the safest, most experienced movers to provide a seamless transition. Commercial movers also play a key role in the day-to-day operations of companies all over the City, and they must be as trusted as any employees. Businesses that do not hire qualified movers risk accidents, costly delays and even stolen or damaged furniture and materials. Moving Forward was formed by Teamsters Local 814 and its affiliated companies to raise awareness about the difference a quality commercial mover can make when it comes to safety and security for clients, and to ensure the fair and responsible treatment of workers. We support Moving Forward because: Moving Forward is affiliated with Teamsters Local 814, which is the only commercial moving union recognized by the region’s leading labor organizations: the Greater New York Building and Construction Trades Council, the Central Labor Council and the AFL-CIO. These organizations only accept a union if it provides a living wage, benefits and true representation to its members. Since some unions do not provide these things, organizations like the AFL-CIO provide important validation to businesses looking for a moving company with a union it can trust. Moving Forward ensures that all of its workers are experienced movers who uphold the highest standards in the industry and provide quality service to New York’s commercial tenants. Moving Forward understands the importance of paying middle class wages and benefits so that its workers can provide for their families. We applaud Moving Forward and Local 814 for their efforts to promote higher standards of quality and security for all commercial moving companies, and for working to ensure middle class wages and benefits for all workers.
