The Game is BACK!

Good news for fans of the former CW sitcom 'The Game.'

Sources close to the production tell BV Buzz that Black Entertainment Television has struck a deal with 'The Game's' parent company Paramount to develop new episodes of the popular series.

"The deal is done between the two networks," the source told BV Buzz. "Now it's a matter of getting the actor-stors under contract again."

When The CW canceled the show in May of last year, the contracts with the shows stars:

Tia Mowry,Pooch Hall, Wendy- Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Brittany Daniel and Coby Bell weren'toptioned and ultimately expired onJune 30,2009.

Now BET has to negotiate new con-tracts with the actors, which is ex-pected to be done within the next two weeks.

"The show will have the same production val-ue, so the actors will make the same type of money they made when they did 'The Game' for The CW," the source shared.

There is a conflict now with actor Bell, who played Jason Pitts on the sports-themed come-dy. It was just announced that he is joining the cast of the hit USA show, 'Burn Notice.'

“He will likely still be able to work on ‘The Game,’ but only as a recurring character in-stead of being a series regular,” the source explained.

Once the deal is finalized, ‘The Game’ will begin production on new episodes in May and shoot on location in Atlanta.

Mara Brock Akil, who also produced ‘Girl-friends,’ will return as the executive producer of the show as well.

BET hopes to use ‘The Game’ to launch their new scripted television division, something that Debra Lee, CEO of Black Entertainment Tele-vision told BV Buzz when we reported on this story last summer.

S P O T L I G H T ....WILLOW SMITH

“We at Roc Nation are excited to work with Willow. She has an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious. It’s rare to find an artist with such in-nate talent and creativity at such a young age. Willow is about to embark on an incredible journey and we look forward to joining her as she grows in all aspects of her career.”

Willow Smith has signed with Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation!

The 9-year-old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has her first single out called “Whip My Hair,” pro-duced by newcomer Jukebox.

As soon as Jay Z heard the single he signed her. He knows good music when he hears it- At any age.

When Willow went on Ryan Seacrest’s radio station she listened as Jay Z got on the phone quoting, “When you have that sort of talent, there is no such thing as too young,” He even com-pared her to Michael Jackson. “She has a child’s innocence but she has a clear vision of who she is and who she wants to be,” he continued. “I can only imag-ine that’s how Mike [Michael Jackson] was as a young kid, he knew exactly what he wanted.”

Jay Z’s comments on signing Willow:

Willow Smith is following in her famous father’s footsteps. Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Her new release “Whip My Hair” is actu-ally really catchy. I believe it will be a huge success!

Not only her song but I’m sure she will have a successful career just like the rest of her family.

Her video for Whip My Hair will be premiered Octo-ber 18, 2010 on B.E.T’s 106 & Park. SO TUNE IN!

COUNTRY mUSIC iN bLACK aMERICA?

MoviN’ On sat and talked with eight people about a particular genre of mu-sic that seems to often go un noticed.. country music. All country singers with the exception to two are all white so it left the question in our head, “Are there any african americans that are influenced by this particular kind of

music.

The Q & A was very interesting, many will be surprised to know that country music does indeed affect “black” peo-

ple as much as it does caucasions.

The question we asked everybody was: What do you think about country music and how does it affect you?

tBalu Said:

Country music to me means almost as much as the blues does. I don’t know that much about it to past judgment on the overall genre. I respect it and definitely do recognize some of their most domi-nant singers. Honestly, I love Taylor Swift’s music and I didn’t realize she was even a country singer until she went on stage with the guitar. Nothing but respect.

uLatisha Said:

I like it for what it is, its different and unfa-miliar to a lot of people. I think it inspires a lot more than people realize. To me it inspires individualism because for years they have been wearing those cowboy hats and boots and not caring what people think. People are just now picking up on it. They have always stood out. I respect them for that. I do listen to some country music I have my favorites. But for the most part I love how they can make any weird hat look good!... I love hats and most of the time im in one…

Many people are inspired by the cow boy boots & hats that most country singers wear. Below is Miley Cyrus

showing off a typical outfit any coun-try singer would style in... Daisy

dukes and cowboy boots. Now com-pare the similarities to the two pics on

the left.

Country music is definitely an ART. I love listening to it because their voices are so different. I love different sounds, I hate artist who sound like each other. To me every single country singer has their own sound and if you really listen to their mu-sic, their lyrics are really good! PLUS their shoes are amazing and I have a billion cowboy boots... So needless to say the fashion probably inspires me the most.

uKai’la Said:

I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC! I think its one of those things in life that go unnoticed. There are really a lot of talented coun-try singers that people love to listen to and don’t even realize they are listening to country music like Miley Cyrus, many people think she’s pop but she’s definitely a country singer. Jessica Simpson has even done some country songs and many people don’t know but a lot of African Americans are crossing over too like Akon. I like the style but I love the music itself.

Kristin said:

I like it. I don’t know that much about the style of music besides the fact that they wear cowboy boots, cowboy hats, a guitar, and have a distinctive voice. I think a lot of the youth’s population is affected most by their style then

the music itself.

p

Country music is cool, im more of a rap/r&b person but I do know some of the highest paid people in show biz are country singers. I don’t think country music has really made an impact on African Americans…. Yet! The style is what stands out to me the most! In fact I mimic it a lot =)

SIMILARITIES COVER STORY

It’s obvious that coun-try music has influenced black america to a cer-tain extent. Although, it’s still pretty new to some, it’s also as familiar as rap and r&b to some people. Shown to the left is a picture of a 20 year old male from New Jersey named Kyle Moore he’s made plenty of songs that have mimicked his favor-ite country singer Johnny Cash. The images shown below are of those country singers who the interview-ee’s above talked about in their Q & A.I think its safe to say there IS country music in BLACK AMERICA.

MARIAH CAREY IS FINALLY PREGNANT!!!

It’s been talked about for months now, and finally Mariah Car-ey has come clean: She’s pregnant!

“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” Carey, 41, said on the Today show Thursday morning as part of a sneak peek at a three-part Access Hollywood interview. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy.”

Husband Nick Cannon, 30, joined the interview to talk about the “absolutely emotional” news, adding, “The greatest gift on earth is a child.”

Carey, who also told of a miscarriage two years ago, would not reveal her due date. She would only say “it’s still early” and “expecting is great.” Ever-supportive Cannon said of the loss, “It strengthened our relationship so much … she handled it so well.”

The news, of course, won’t surprise those who have followed the couple’s coy references to pregnancy and babies over the past few months.

Rumors flew as the expand-ing singer seemed to bloom a little more every week, and both Cannon and Carey have spoken about their desire for children.

In August, Carey fanned the flames by stepping out in Brazil wearing a mater-nity dress. She quickly ad-dressed the ensuing frenzy, explaining she is “super-stitious” about pregnancy and promising, “When the time is right, everyone will know.”

Days later, Cannon gushed about his wife’s motherly instincts, tell-ing PEOPLE that “she’s very nurturing.” But not until now have they ad-mitted they’re soon to welcome their own bun-dle of joy.

Now that the news is out, people will clamor to know the sex of the child. The couple wouldn’t say yet, but eventually Carey will cave, because she loves to deco-rate.
