TOP GROSSING MOVIES OF 2013 The top grossing movie of 2013 is believed to be iron-man 3 selling a total of 50,121,601 tickets at the box office and making $408,992,272. In a close second place was The Hunger Games: Catching fire, selling 49,030,439 tickets and making $400,088,390.

2014 isn’t over yet, so there is still time for a great movie to come out. So far the top grossing movie of 2014 is Guardians of the Galaxy making $323,331,487.

THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THEATERS For the first month or two of screening, the cash from the ticket sales of a movie go to the studios, so theaters rely on concessions to make money. That’s why concessions are so expensive.

Combos at the concessions don’t save you money at most theaters, you’d probably pay the same price if you purchased the items separately.
