Question 1.

The Church of All Worlds was established by the main character in Robert Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land. In 1968 a group of believers created an organization by the same name which reflected similar ideas. According to their official website : "While CAW [Church of All Worlds] members express a broad spectrum of personal magic's and beliefs, what brings us together is a shared set of values: immanent divinity (expressed as "Thou art God/dess"); self-knowledge and personal responsibility; deep friendship and tribal intimacy; positive sexuality; living in harmony with the natural world; and appreciation of the diverse nature of human beings.“

Similarly IDIC ( Short for Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination ) reflects the philosophical outlook of the ________ . In short, it means “to each his own.” In includes the understanding that variety is good, and that we progress to new and better understandings by encountering new ideas.

X described his childhood as lonely and sheltered, partly due to his physical

appearance . He remarked that his mother would force him to stand at the

foot of her bed for several hours as punishment (a scene alluded in one of his

iconic film ). This idea of being harshly treated or wrongfully accused would

later be reflected in X's films.

He once said that his father wanted to punish him for a wrongdoing . So he

sent him to the local police station with a note asking the officer to lock him

away for 10 minutes as punishment for behaving badly . X was traumatized by

the 10 minute period when he was locked up , so the characters in his movies

After receiving his honorary doctorate in fine arts, TV satirist Stephen Colbert placed several pictures of other famous TV doctors who inspired him on the mantle-piece of his show's set ( The Colbert Report ). One of these is of Y as X . The others are Bill Cosby as Dr. Cliff Huxtable and Noah Drake from General Hospital. As a response, the creators of X placed a picture of Colbert on the desk of X in the show's 5th season, that can be seen from time to time. Due to both Y's show winning an Emmy over Colbert's, and because Y received an OBE (Order of the British Empire ) while Colbert did not, Colbert named X to his enemies list.

Question 7.

In 2004, Juan Catalan was a man quite an unlucky gentleman. His brother was

in jail for a drive-by shooting, and the 16-year-old girl who had testified against

him had been murdered. That was when Catalan found himself in jail as

Suspect Number 1 in a homicide investigation of the 16 year old witness.

Fortunately, he had an airtight alibi: He and his 6-year-old daughter had been

at a Dodgers game at the time of the murder. He even had the ticket stubs to

prove it .However ,unfortunately , It turned out the ticket stubs weren't

compelling-enough evidence, no footage of him and his daughter could be

found, and the police refused to allow him to take that lie detector test .

However in the luckiest turn of events a video evidence of his alibi turned up

and he was released .

So what was this new piece of evidence ?

to the game.

After hours of scouring the HBO footage, Catalan's lawyers found a shot of him

and his daughter eating hot dogs and presumably not murdering anyone in

the stands behind Larry David.

Question 10.

X is a extremely graphic, cult classic film . It is the inspirational precursor of the

faux-documentary "found-footage" smash hit The Blair Witch Project

(1999) and indeed the first found footage movie to be ever made. It was filled

with violent, grisly, and disturbing images with unbelievable scenes of graphic

violence (including castration and breast impalement). It was also banned

and controversial for its extreme violence. The film's most notorious scene

included the discovery of the impalement of the young woman on a pole.

The movie was so convincing that for their work on the film, the director and

the producer were arrested by authorities on suspicion of murder charges and

faced life in prison, following its 1980 Milan premiere. They endured a trial when

Italian authorities were unconvinced that the footage was indeed staged. The

director lost the original trial, and all prints were to be destroyed, but he

managed to have the ruling overturned in the early '80s when the actors finally

appeared on TV to prove otherwise. Some five years passed before the film

saw release in director's home country. This movie was banned for twenty

years in certain countries, including the UK.

Question 17.

X’s death in 2009 brought untouched topics of extreme sexual practices into a grisly spotlight. While in Bangkok shooting a film, the 72-year-old star was found dead, hanging from a rope in the closet of his hotel room.

Footage from hotel security cameras showed that X was alone in his room, but despite his wife's assertions to the contrary, media and law enforcement originally speculated that X had committed suicide. However, further information revealed that the rope around X's neck was also connected to his genitals, suggesting that his death was the result of autoerotic asphyxiation, or the practice of constricting air supply in order to enhance a sexual experience.

X's ex-wife Marina Anderson confirmed publicly that he had indeed engaged in "deviant" and "potentially deadly" sexual behavior, supporting the autoerotic asphyxiation hypothesis .

X has appeared in more than 100 feature films and was nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award. The last nomination was for his title role in 2004 thriller ,for playing his most popular role (whose name has become synonymous with him) .

X has played a self-deprecating neurotic many times in his award-winning films. However, X's real life erupted into a controversy more dramatic than any movie script , when it was discovered that X was having an affair with his then-girlfriend's adopted daughter , who was 35 years his junior.

X was romantically linked to actress _____ in the early 1980s. She had a number of adopted children, among them a young daughter named Soon-Yi Previn . Although they were not legally married , X was a stepfather figure to such an extent that he fought legally for the custody of kids when the couple separated in 1992 .

In 1991, she discovered nude photos of the then-21-year-old Previn in X's home. Predictably, scandal erupted upon this revelation and X’s reputation was seriously damaged. However their relationship has been remarkably successful. X and Previn married in 1997 at age 62 and 27, respectively and as of today, the couple is still together.

Question 23.The making of X had consequences which overshadowed the film itself. During

the filming of a segment directed by John Landis on July 23, 1982, actor Vic

Morrow and child actors Myca Dinh Le (age 7) and Renee Shin-Yi Chen (age

6) died in an accident involving a helicopter being used on the set. The

helicopter was flying at an altitude of only 25 feet (8 meters), too low to avoid

the explosions of the pyrotechnics used on set. When the blasts severed the

tail rotor, it spun out of control and crashed, decapitating Morrow and Le with

its blades. Chen was crushed to death as the helicopter crashed. Everyone

inside the helicopter survived sustaining minor injuries.

The accident led to legal action against the filmmakers which lasted nearly a

decade, and changed the regulations involving children working on movie

sets at night and during special effects-heavy scenes. Hollywood also avoided

helicopter-related stunts for many years .The incident ended the friendship

between director Landis and producer Spielberg, who was already angered

before the accident that Landis had violated many codes, including using live

ammunition on the set.

Question 24.Sydney's Hellfire Club, run by Master Tom and his partner Ultra, prides itself on being the public face of fetish in Australia. Referred to as the "McDonald's of kink" – a moniker the club has embraced – Hellfire hosts monthly events at Q-Bar on Oxford Street that are open to anyone from beginners to connoisseurs, where participants can have hands-on time with different bondage and BDSM toys.

“Hellfire has helped grow the scene locally over the last 19 years more than any other event,” says Tom, who's noted a recent rise in newcomers. "Most people in the Sydney fetish scene started at Hellfire. Many patrons met their partners here, and some bring their kids to the club after they turn 18.“

This particular club was used for the shooting of a1990’s movie . Since the movie was already running over the budget , a real club was used in a scene where the male protagonists meets the female protagonist . Antonio de Oliveira was an economist who served as Prime Minister of a particular country for 36 years from 1932-1968.

A professor of economics in Coimbra, he helped form the Catholic Centre Party in 1921 and was elected to parliament straightaway, but resigned after one session.

As the Army overthrew the incumbent government, they offered him the cabinet post of Finance Minister, which he refused as he wouldn’t get his own conditions. 2 years later, offered the post again with full control over income and expenditures, _______ accepted and reversed the century-old tradition of deficits – his legacy was hallmarked by budgetary surpluses.

Gaining in power, in 1932, he was named Prime Minister. He drafted a new constitution that reorganised the political system along authoritarian lines. Influenced by Catholic, papal and nationalist thought, he curtailed political freedoms, chose sycophantic ministers he closely worked with and had military police repressing dissent.

All in all, despite great economic and institutional progress, his dictatorial ways and insistence on keeping African colonies at a time when European imperialism was being dismantled, saw him become extremely unpopular.

This unpopularity led to him being immortalised in a movie realm (a particularly famous one) . How?
