For Unloading Areas 4-10Continue past Southgate Drive and take thenext exit, marked “Downtown.” This will takeyou down Prices Fork Road to the northside of campus. Follow Prices Fork Road. At the second traffic light, turn right onto West Campus Drive, where you can follow the markings on the Move-in Map to reach your check-in location.

After passing through the third traffic light,turn right onto Turner Street, where youcan follow the markings on the Move-in Mapto reach your check-in location. Alternately, turn left off of Drillfield Driveonto West Campus Drive. Make a right ontoGrove Lane and stay to the left around thecurve. Turn right into the parking area andpark in the large lot to the right.

From Turner Street/Upper QuadContinue on Turner Street and turn leftonto North Main Street. Take the second exit in the traffic circle onto Prices Fork Road. Building Check-In Location for Keys/Assignments

ON-CAMPUS HOUSING CHECK-IN and MOVE-IN DATES, TIMES, and INSTRUCTIONS

Please follow the directions below for check-in and move-in information. Exceptions apply for Oak Lane and specific living-learning community students pre-registered to participate in Hokie Helpers. Students arriving early for Marching Virginians, Corps of Cadets, or other specialized groups should follow the directions of their program leader if approved for early arrival.

• General check-in for students: Residence halls will open for student arrival Wednesday through Saturday, August 23-26, 2017. Residence halls are not open for general student arrival prior to Wednesday, August 23, 2017, except for specific preregistered groups. Please follow the directions of the group leaders for specific information.

• Students may check in from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at their residence hall: You may use any of these days; you do not need to notify us of a specific day. Please report directly to your residence hall to check in. Residence Life staff will be available to provide information to you. Remember to bring your Hokie Passport or other official government-issued photo ID.

Students who are delayed in traffic or for other reasons cannot make it to campus by 5 p.m. may check in by meeting with the resident advisor on duty that evening. Please note that RA staff may be attending to other opening duties, so you may experience a delay. We hope that students will make every effort to arrive to campus by 5 p.m. We do not expect the RA staff to check in any students after 10 p.m.

• International students: International students have received information on move-in via email from the Cranwell International Center. For questions, contact Cranwell International Center at 540-231-6527.

• Check-in for Corps of Cadets students: Follow directions from the Office of the Commandant. Cadets will check in directly with the command staff in the Corps residence halls and your arrival timeline is set by the Commandant's Office. If you are seeing a 9999 assignment, your assignment is not available yet. Upperclass cadet assignments are made during Cadre Week and posted soon thereafter. If you have an assignment in any other building except Pearson or New Cadet H Hall, please contact the housing office immediately.

New cadets must check in during their allotted time slot between 8 p.m. and noon on Saturday, August 19. Returning cadets must arrive after noon on Saturday, August 26, 2017.

• Move-in map: Use this move-in map to see where to park your car, pick up items, and locate the Hokie Helper tents.

• Emergency preparedness kits: Students are reminded of the expectation that they have an emergency kit with them in the residence halls. Additional information can be found online at www.housing.vt.edu/movein/gettingready/emergencykit.php.
