Key Milestones

• Dublin IRCG Helicopter begins operations July 1st 1998.

• 2002-2009, 72 & 230 Sqd Wessex and Puma operations from RAF Aldergrove ceased.

• 2002 onwards more frequent tasking to assist Mourne Mountain Rescue Team. All requests come through HM Coast Guard Belfast via MRCC Dublin.

• 2002 onward, pre arranged training sessions formally organized with full support from all stakeholders.

• Dublin IRCG Helicopter begins operations July 1st 1998.

•Helicopter landing site operations.

•Training has been rolled out to include all other emergency service providers involved incorporating;

•Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service

•Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

•PSNI.

•HM Coast Guard personal.

Operational Response

Cliff Faller. Mourne Mountains Feb 24th 2012.

•Incident occurred in difficult terrain. 1 male casualty suffered spinal , head and leg injuries.

•Rescue 116 responded along with Mourne MRT. Comms established

• Rescue 116 paramedic deployed.

•Casualty suffered spinal, head and leg injuries following a 70ft fall while rock climbing. Rescue 116 and Mourne MRT tasked to respond.

•Rescue 116 deployed SAR Paramedic close to casualty site.

•Rescue 116 routed to HSL and airlifted 4 members of Mourne MRT to casualty site.

•Casualty treated by Aircrew Paramedic and Mourne MRT, packaged and winched from the site before last light.
