Quick Capture means you can open the camera by two twists of the wrist. This makes it really quick and easy so you do not miss any photo moments. The phone will also allow you to take a photo by tapping anywhere on the screen. To then access your gallery, just swipe left and it will take you straight there. By swiping right, will lead you to the camera settings. These include HDR mode, flash options, focus and exposure, slow motion, panorama mode, and geotag. The phone has a 10mp camera at the back,and a 2.1mp on the front. The next page shows a photo on the right handside using this phone camera, and on the left handside of the Iphone 5s,which has an 8mp camera.

There are choices of different colours for the back, the front, and for theaccents of the phone. There are even wooden style backs available whichare proving extremely popular in the US. Moto Maker will be launching inthe UK between February-June.

“OK Now”“Ok Google Now” is a touchless control in which you use your voice to enable tasks and features of the phone. Firstly, you have to go into the touchless control settings and click on the “train launch phrase” option. This allows the phone to recognise your voice, making it so that it will give you more accurate results. The more you talk, the more it will learn. Touchless Control allows you to be as far away as 10-15 feet from your phone, in quiet environments. In loud environments the range is about 1-2 feet

Touchless control will even work when the phone is locked. All you need to say is “Ok Google Now” and the phone will awaken, waiting for your question or task.

A handy question to ask is “Ok Google Now, find my phone.” Brilliant if you have put it down somewhere and you don’t know where as this will then cause the phone to make a loud noise which will then help you to track down your phone.

If you are unsure on what to ask it, just say “Ok Google Now, Help me. and this will bring up a list of different things in which you can ask.

Ok Google Now Vs Siri

Ok Google Now’s main competitor is Apples Siri. To compare them I asked them loads of different questions. I found that Google is much more ‘serious’ in the way that is answers the questions. Siri tends to have a sense of humour in which you can have a general conversation with. Ok Google Now will search straight to Google when asked certain questions, whereas Siriwill come up with a comical response. (See first picture.) I do think that Google Now will respond in more detail when asked certain questions. For example when asked what the whether was going to be like for the following day, it gave me a more in depth answer. Sirisimply just posted a image of the type of weather I was going to expect. Overall, I think Ok Google Now gives the user more information then Siri.

motorola connect

Motorola Connect allows you to see text messages and calls coming into your Connect enabled phone on your computer’s Chrome browser. You can read and respond to texts using your keyboard and even know who’s calling before deciding if you should reach for your phone.Motorola Connect requires a Chrome Extension to be installed on your Chrome Browser. Motorola Migrate

Motorola Migrate allows the user to transfer information from there old android phone, or iPhone, to their new Moto X. This will work from any phone which is on android 2.2 and above or from any iPhone as it is compatible with iCloud. Firstly you have to download Motorola migrate on your old handset . Open the app on the Moto X, and select what you want to restore. You then have to scan a QR code using the old handset for the phones to connect and then it will start the transfer. Motorola suggests that it takes 10 minutes to transfer 2gb of data. If the user is transferring from an iPhone, then they just sign in with their apple ID on the migrate app and it will then port across contacts and calendar information.

Overall OpinionAltogether I enjoyed using this phone. What I really like was the touchless control feature. It saved me time and it was so easy to use as the phone learned my voice really well. It was great for those nights where you forget to set an alarm as instead of rolling over, I just said, ‘Ok Google Now, set an alarm for 7am.’ And job done.

I also found the active display handy. Its discreet and allowed to me see what was new on my phone without me having to actually unlock it. Again, it was a really quick feature and completely user friendly.

The screen size is also ideal. Its a great size as its larger then my personal phone, but not too big so that I can’t use it with one hand. The screen is vivid and sharp and the colours are bright. The phone is also a nice shape which sits comfortably in your hand.

There is no memory card slot and the phone only has a 16gb internal memory which I would fill up quickly, however you do get free 50gb storage of Google Drive for two years which will help combat that problem.

I was slightly disappointed with the battery life on the phone. There was a number of occasions where I pulled the phone out of my bag to find the battery had drained a considerable amount, even though the phone had not been used. Also I found it to be quite slow at charging up.

I was also slightly disappointed with the 10mp camera on the Moto X. I was expecting the camera quality to be better then my iPhone, but I found that the colours were more faded and the image wasn’t as sharp, especially in low light conditions.

This was the first android phone that I had a good play on and I would recommend it. It just makes your life easier as you don’t have to touch the phone to see/do tasks on it. It lives up to the nickname, ‘the lazy phone.’ I think it is an ideal price range, £360 on o2 pay as you go, or starting from £23 per month on o2 refresh. This phone definitely gets a thumbs up from me.
