SOOTHES THE MIND AND GIVES IT REST, HEALS THE HEART AND MAKES IT WHOLE, FROM THE HEAVEN TO THE SOUL.”

MUSIC AND PREGNANCY:

The fetus is simulated by music as early as the second trimester

When music is introduced to a fetus their heartrate rises which is a sign of stimulation

Music helps stimulate connections in the brain

Increased connectors in the brain can result in enhanced memory and information processing functions of the brain

“MUSIC IS ONE OF THE FEW ACTIVITIES THAT INVOLVES USING THE WHOLE BRAIN. IT IS INTRINSIC TO ALL CULTURES AND HAS SURPRISING BENEFITS NOT ONLY FOR LEARNING LANGUAGE, IMPROVING MEMORY AND FOCUSING ATTENTION, BUT ALSO FOR PHYSICAL COORDINATION AND DEVELOPMENT” (How Music Affects Us and Promotes Health).

HEALTH BENEFITS:

Lowers blood pressure

Reduce migraines

Provides pain relief

Boost immune system

Speed up stroke recovery

Reduce stress

Enhance intelligence

Reduce negative emotions

“Some research has suggested that, relative to exercising without music, exercising with music significantly benefits mood, results in increased vigor, and lowers levels of tiredness and fatigue following exercise” (Campbell).
