I hope everyone is doing well. Several of your members have returned from Camp Paradise after representing the Mother Lode Mineral Club as instructors. Marion Roberts, Betty Egger, Margaret Kolacyzk, John and I spent two weeks teaching lapidary arts. I doubt if many clubs are so well represented at Camp Paradise.

We can be very proud of our members. The lapidary work that was completed during the two weeks was amazing. I hope that many of you will be able to experience a week at camp. Our October meeting is just around the corner and I hope all of you can attend.

Several items are needed for the March Show. * Geodes. We will be adding a new booth to the show where children can purchase a geode and have it cut while they wait. * Clean 5 gallon buckets & lids to store & transport rocks. * Fabric bags for the Mine Dump and Treasure Hunt. We estimate that an additional 1,200 bags will be needed. Directions and fabric are available from Monica Johnson “The Bag Lady” 523-7031. * Milk crates are needed to store and transport rocks to the show. * Chairman for the Treasure Hunt and Wheel of Fortune. These positions can be done with the help of your children or grandchildren. * Tumbled stone and someone to tumble stones. Rock material & grits can be provided by the club. There are some interesting fossils that we need help identifying. If there is anyone who has knowledge of fossils we could use your help. The first show meeting will be held at the November meeting at 1:00, just before the membership meeting. Come and learn about your show – what we have to offer our community and how you can help. Thank you for your support. Bud and Terry McMillin 524-3494 Show Chairmen

I am very pleased that our organization was able to award two $750.00 Scholarships to two students at California State University, Stanislaus this year. One scholarship went to Daniel Villanueva of Turlock. He has been very active in geology associations at CSUS. He has been president and vice president of CSUS Geological Society and a member of the Geological Society of America. He plans to get his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and pursue a career in Hydrology & Petroleum Geology. He is 24 years of age and has had very good grades. The second scholarship went to Eustacia Hall. She is a member of the Geology Club at CSUS and presently works part-time at Barnes & Nobles in Modesto. She plans on becoming a high school teacher with a geo-science concentration. She is 37 years of age and lives in Manteca. Eustacia also has very good grades. I have invited both of them to our September meeting and to our annual show next March in Turlock. Submitted by, Minnie Elam, Scholarship Secretary
