Most Holy Name of Jesus is a place where families are formed, cultures are celebrated, and
each life is blessed with the love of God in bonds of faith as disciples, bonds of truth as believers, and in
bonds of service as missionaries. With diverse cultures and rich faith traditions, we celebrate as one catholic family in Christ, working together to
build the Kingdom of God and proclaim the Gospel. We embody the New Evangelization, recognizing
our gifts and returning them with increase in self-giving service to all.

PRECIOUS BLOOD On this solemnity we focus our attention on the Body and Blood of Christ. We listen to the story of the renewal of the old covenant, which Moses sealed by splashing the blood of animals on the altar of sacrifice, as well as on the people. Jesus, whose blood is the blood of the new covenant, shed that precious blood on the cross, saving us from sin and promising us everlasting life. Blood is the life source that courses through our bodies. The precious blood of Christ is the life source for our spirits. Today may we, like the psalmist, offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord, whose Body and Blood strengthen us to bring the Good News to everyone we meet.

USCCB Religious Liberty Chairman Announces Religious Freedom Week from June 22-29, 2018 April 27, 2018 WASHINGTON—Catholics across the United States are encouraged to pray and act in support of religious liberty at home and abroad during Serving Others in God's Love: Religious Freedom Week 2018, which begins on June 22, the Feast of Sts. Thomas More and John Fisher, and ends on June 29, the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul. The chairman of the USCCB's Committee for Religious Liberty, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville, states: "Religious freedom allows the space for people of faith to serve others in God's love in ministries like education, adoption and foster care, health care, and migration and refugee services. We encourage people of faith to reflect on the importance of religious freedom so that we might have the space to carry out our mission of service and mercy, and we invite everyone to pray for our brothers and sisters who face intense persecution in other parts of the world." Resources for Religious Freedom Week and other religious liberty resources can be found at www.usccb.org/ReligiousFreedomWeek and www.usccb.org/freedom.
(The following prayer will be shared as we gather for daily mass over the course of this national observance)
Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty
O God our Creator, from your provident hand we have received
our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us
the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society.
We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood
and every danger overcome— for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us— this great land will always be "one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
defender fácilmente nuestras libertades cuando están amenazadas;
