1. Is it legal? Yes, it is legal under Federal Law. The Mossberg Shockwave is regulated under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA) which defines it as a Firearm. It is not subject to NFA regulations so long ascertain rules are followed.*

ALL STATE AND LOCAL LAWS MUST BE FOLLOWED Although the Mossberg 590 Shockwave is classified as a “firearm” under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), and is not subject to the provisions of the National Firearms Act (NFA), state and local laws may be more restrictive. Even though, it is legal federally, the 590 Shockwave may be considered a “short-barreled” shotgun or “assault weapon” by certain state and local laws; and therefore illegal to possess. Please check with your local authorities concerning the legality of possessing a firearm of this configuration.

3. How old do you have to be to buy a Mossberg Shockwave? The Mossberg Shockwave is a firearm, not a long gun. Federal Law requires purchasers of firearms tobe 21 years of age.

*Rules 1. The overall length of the gun must be greater than 26”. Users should not modify or change the grip of the Mossberg Shockwave, or the length of the barrel. If the overall length is reduced below 26” the firearm would be defined by BATFE as an A.O.W. and the user could be charged with possession of an unregistered NFA weapon.

2. The Shockwave has a barrel length of 14.375”. Users should not attach a buttstock designed to be fired from the shoulder to the Mossberg Shockwave as it would then be defined by BATFE as a short barreled shotgun, and the user could be charged with possession of an unregistered NFA weapon.

3. Do not carry the Mossberg Shockwave concealed. If this gun is carry concealed, it would be defined by BATFE as an A.O.W. and the user could be charged with possession of an unregistered NFA weapon.

4. BATFE defines the Mossberg Shockwave as a Firearm and it should be defined as a Firearm on BATFE’s Form 4473.
