The sharing of our time and resources makes The Blaze program one of the best around. Duration: The outdoor season consists of a fall season and a spring season for the teams that are U14 and below. Ages U15 and above play a girl’s season in the fall and a boy’s season in the spring. The fall season typically runs from August — October and the spring season typically runs from April —June. Individual coaches and teams may choose to continue playing and training together through the winter months at various indoor locations. Teams may also choose to continue to practice through the summer months in preparation for the fall season. Practice & Training: During the fall and spring seasons, teams generally practice two or three times per week with their coach. In addition, one night per week each team trains with the Blaze training staff. While Morton Blaze Soccer Club (MBSC) makes all attempts to accommodate other activities that your child may be involved in, soccer is a team sport. Therefore it is important that each player attends practices. All practices and training sessions during the spring and fall season are held at McClallen Park in Morton. League Play: MBSC belongs to the Central Illinois Soccer League (CIYSL). Many of the MBSC teams choose to participate in league play. The league competition generally consists of teams from Peoria, Bloomington, Champaign, Springfield, and others within an hour or so drive from Morton. Teams from other areas could be in the league any given year or season. Typically, a season consists of 6-8 league games, which are usually played on Sunday afternoons as double headers at the aforementioned locations, including Morton. All home games are played at McClallen Park in Morton.

Blaze TrainersThe training staff of MBSC consists of

college level players who are led under the direction of our Director of Coaching. Many of our training staff have international playing experience. The Director of Coaching develops weekly training plans for each team to develop individual technical and tactical soccer skills. The training staff then implements these training plans during the team training sessions. Weekly video training sessions detailing step by step instructions on a specific skill are viewed via our website by our players and then practiced at home. Many of our trainers also offer individual specialized training sessions for a nominal fee.

Player FeesPlayer fees vary from team to team.

Factors which make these fees vary include, but are not limited to, the number of players rostered, number of tournaments a team plays in, and paid coach vs. non-paid coach. MBSC

strives to keep our player fees lower than our competition in the area. Fees typically range between $250 to $450 per player for each season, depending on the factors listed above. These fees include a $50 parent volunteer assessment that is returned to our parents at the conclusion of each of our tournaments if they volunteer to work 4 hours at the tournament for each of their players (up to two players).

UniformsEach player is required to purchase a Blaze

player uniform. The complete uniform kit includes a red and a white jersey, black shorts, two pair of black socks, and a red and white training t-shirt. The price of this kit is less than $120 and is in addition to the player fee. Most players are able to wear their uniforms for 2-3 years before needing to purchase new jerseys. Players may also choose to purchase an optional monogrammed soccer bag to store their gear.

FundraiserMBSC offers an optional cookie dough

fundraiser to offset player fees each season. The fundraiser is entirely for the benefit of the players, and Morton Blaze Soccer Club does not receive any funds from the cookie dough sale. Many of our players are able to offset half or more of their fees through the sale.

Tournament PlayMBSC teams all participate in tournament

play throughout the spring and fall season. Teams will hold a “parent” meeting prior to each season. At this meeting the team will determine how many tournaments the team will participate in and where they will be played. Hence, it is up to each team to determine the extent of their soccer travels. Most teams will participate in three to four tournaments a season, with some of the more competitive teams choosing to do more. Tournaments are quite often within a two hour distance from Morton. Most teams will choose one tournament at a greater distance requiring an over night stay. MBSC hosts a Memorial Classic Tournament in May and a Pumpkin Classic Tournament in September.

TRAINING STAFFWe have a qualified training staff to help guide and teach your kids.
