Monday 15th October 2018 Term 4 Week 1
From the Principal’s Desk
What a wonderful term we had in Term 3 with our excursions
program, carnivals, Book Week, Education Week and much, much
more. We now head into Term 4, which is always exciting, kicking it off
with NAIDOC Week next week and some other major highlights for
the term that include the School Presentation Night, Kinder Orientation and Year
6 Farewell.
We are looking forward to meeting all of our Kinders for 2019 this term as part of
the Orientation program. If you know of any students who have not enrolled yet
for 2019, please have families make contact with the office.
We also look forward to having a great last term with our Year 6 students as we
help them transition to high school.
Applications are currently open for placement for Year 7 in NSW Selective High
Schools for 2020 (current Year 5 students), including access to virtual online
selective high school, Aurora. To find out more about the placement, assessments
and process please go to: https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high

We will be having a Parent Meeting on Wednesday afternoon in the library
commencing at 5:15pm to outline the revised Student Leadership Guidelines that
will be used this term to select the School Captains for 2019. For those that are
unable to make the meeting the guidelines will be placed on the school website on
Thursday.
Have a wonderful week of learning!

We have been FLOCKED!
We had some special visitors to our school as part of the Life Without Barriers “Flocking
Flamingo Fundraiser”. A wonderful way to raise funds for a great cause and spread good cheer
within our community.

GALA DAYS
Congratulations to all our Morgie teams who
represented us proudly at the PSSA Basketball and
Soccer Gala Days on Wednesday of the last week of
Term 3.
Our Junior Boys Basketball team played exceptionally
well, just missing out on winning the shield. They
finished with a highly commendable second place.
The Junior Girls Soccer Team also finished in second
place.

During week 10, 46 Year 6 students embarked on a wonderful excursion to our nation’s
capital city, Canberra. The students visited many exciting venues while on the trip
including New Parliament House, PEO in old Parliament House, Australian Institute of
Sport, Telstra Tower, Questacon, The Australian War Memorial, Cockington Green and
the CSIRO. Of course a highlight was a day trip to the snow where the students had fun
playing in the snow. As you can see Year 6 students had fantastic time on their Canberra
excursion. They were kept extremely busy and are commended on their outstanding
Morgie manners and enthusiasm during all activities.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able
to visit their National Capital as part of their civics and citizenship education. The
Australian Government contributed $60 per student under the Parliament and Civics
Education Rebate programme. This rebate reduced the cost of the excursion for all the
students that attended. We would like to thank the Australian Government for their
support.
