MORBIHAN 3 PERFECT DAYS DAY 1 // ANCIENT HISTORY The Carnac alignements (series of standing stones; p122) are Morbihan’s most un- missable sight. You’ll need at least half a day to explore them, but count on a full day if you want to factor in a guided tour or a visit to other nearby sites at Locmariaquer (p127). The Carnac area is awash with great places to stay: try nearby La Villa Mane Lann (p295) for a homely welcome, or Le Lodge Kerisper (p295) for designer lines. DAY 2 // COASTLINE CRUISING Day two is reserved for the littoral (coastline). Take a cobblestone wander around Vannes (p130) and a leisurely lunch at Le Roscanvec (p132), before spending the after- noon cruising around the islands of the Golfe du Morbihan (p133). See the sunset next to the Port-Navalo lighthouse, at the tip of the Presqu’île de Rhuys peninsula (p134). Overnight in luxury at the Villa Kerasy (p296). DAY 3 // CASTLE COUNTRY Day three is for exploring Morbihan’s inland charms. Top of the list are the atmos- pheric châteaux of Pontivy (p137) and Josselin (p136); if you’re bringing the kids you might want to factor in a visit to the animals at Branféré (p135) or Pont-Scor(p121), or take your time with a leisurely stroll and a country picnic on the towpaths of the Nantes–Brest Canal (p136). Spend a night in the trees at Dihan (p295), west of Auray. © Lonely Planet
