I’d like to welcome our new members to the Moraga Movers. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your affiliation with the Movers as I do. It is truly the highlight of my month.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news with you that our beloved Brother Dominic passed away December 28, 2017 at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa. He was 79 years old. Brother Dom was made an Honorary Member of the Moraga Movers last year. Services were held at Saint Mary’s College on January 12th at 7:00 PM.

I look forward to seeing you all at our monthly dinners in 2018. I cannot describe how it warms my heart to hear all of the wonderful comments from so many of you. It means so much. We are a very special group.

Sincerely,

Keith

MEMBERSHIP NEWS Norma Claassen

It’s that time of year that the dues for 2018 are due by January 31, 2018. The dues have not changed: a single member is $25 and a couple is $45. If you pay for your dues at a dinner meeting, please make two checks one for the dues and one for the dinner. This helps us keep track of the payments. Don’t forget if you refer a new member to Moraga Movers you have a chance to win a year of ‘free” meals. Just have the new applicant add your name to the “referred by” line on the application. The drawing is held at the end of year at the Holiday Luncheon Please remember that the guest fee to attend the monthly dinner meetings is $30. All the more reason to have your guest join the Moraga Movers. Also, if your guest does not appear for the meal and you did not cancel, you will be billed for the meal. We have to give an accurate count to the caterer and have to pay for the meals that are not consumed.

LECTURE

Revelations: Art From the American South, Thursday February 1 at 1 PM

Join us for an exploration of the Fine Arts Museums' important new acquisition of contemporary art from the Souls Grown Deep Foundation. Working with little or no formal training and often using cast-off objects and unconventional materials, the artists have created visually compelling works that address some of the most profound and persistent issues in American society. The exhibit and discussion features acclaimed African American artists Thorton Dial, Ralph Griffin, and Gee's Bend quilters Jessie T. Pettway and Annie Mae Young. This lecture is generously sponsored by The Friends of the Moraga Library.
