What is Mooting?
• Mock appeal case.
• You are not arguing the facts, you argue the points of law.
• It is the closest to knowing what being in court is like as a law student.
• Limited amount of time.
Why should I Moot?
• Improve your legal knowledge.
• Improve analytical essays.
• Confidence and public speaking.
• Recruiters say they look for this now on CVs.
• External Teams = Cash prizes, work experience, trophies, pupillages and networking.
Mooting at Dundee
• Last year was the best year for externals – bigger this year.
• £5 membership – new cost, new benefits.
• Social aspect
• Committee positions.
