Programme Updates Muslim Aid Institute of Technology (MAIT)-Jessore celebrated International Mother Language Day colorfully on 21 st February. Muslim Aid Community Hospital Pabna organizes Cleft-lip and palate operation camp regularly Muslim Aid Community Hospital Pabna organized cleft-lip and palate operation camp for the people free of cost during 14- 15 February 2018 which is a routine service of the hospital started in 2009. This time a total of 40 patients attended in this 2-day camp within the hospital arrangements and out of them 15 patients were selected as operative case. Their operations were accomplished successfully and all of them left the hospital with smiling faces along with their parents. A 3-member specialist team of plastic surgery department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital led by Dr. Sajjad Hossain Khondokar, Chief of the Department, operated these patients in our hospital free of charge. This is a humanitarian services supported by an international organization “Smile Train’’. In every month this camp is organized in our hospital regularly and so far around 700 people, mostly the children received operation free of cost. Muslim Aid receives a lot of thanks and pray from the people of the communities around Muslim Aid community hospital in Pabna. McGovern Dole International Food for Education and Children Nutrition Programme and

School Feeding Programme (SFP) with the support of WFP and the Government of Bangladesh

Literacy component has been added with the previous School Feeding programme from January 2018. Nine literacy Facilitator along with an Assistant Project Coordinator (APC) has been managing the programme with previous team members of Field Monitor, security staff, support staff and District Coordinator as the Project Coordinator based in Ukhiya and Teknaf. Technical assistance for Literacy component is being provided by Room to Read, an international NGO in partnership with WFP.

In the month of February 2018 79.995 Metric Tons of HEB distributed among 62,627 children in 304 Schools (GOB and GOB registered MPO school 145, NGO School 146, and Madrasa 13) in Ukhia and Teknaf Upazilas of Cox’s Bazar district. Basic training on Literacy Programme The programme’s technical partner of WFP ‘Room to Read Bangladesh’ organized a 5-day residential Basic Training on Literacy Programme for McGovern Dole International Food for Education and Children Nutrition Programme staff in Cox’s Bazar at Crown Plaza of Hotel Sea Palace Ltd, Cox’s Bazar during 7-11 February 2018. This year a total of 12 Field Monitor (FM) 9 Literacy Facilitator (LF) are working along with the District Coordinator, Assistant Project Coordinator and 4 support staff. School Feeding Coverage

USDA Mission in School Feeding Programme, Cox’s Bazar On 10th February 2018 a high level team from USDA mission visited two schools in Ukhiya.

Project staff orientation at its Project Office, Chouhali, Sirajgonj

The project Monsoon Floods Response 2017 in Bangladesh Started in January at Sadar upazila Sirajgonj with the aim of covering 1350 Households with Unconditional cash grant and Hygiene package. A 3-member team from Dhaka office including Iqbal Ahmed (Head of RMA), Tanvir Elahi (PM of HP), and Ariful Islam (In-charge MEAL visited the project office where a day long

orientation session was held with the project staffs on 17th February at Chauhali of Sadar Upazila Sirajgonj. The main objectives of the orientation session was to discuss about the project guidelines and share the findings and learnings from earlier projects. The team is on area selection (Union and Village) and getting preparation to conduct Household Survey for beneficiary selection.

Muslim Aid’s contribution in Beggar free Pabna Programme

The District administration of Pabna inaugurated the Beggar Free Pabna programme with the assistance of Muslim Aid on 16 February 2018.

Muslim Aid presented 3 manual Vans and 6 Sewing Machines as the life changing gift from maa International, were distributed at the Circuit House of Pabna to the beggars selected by the district administration. Honorable Additional Secretary Mr. Abdul Halim, Director General of Prime Minister’s Office GIU Unit as the Chief Guest. Md. Jasim Uddin, Deputy Commissioner, Pabna and Kaisarul Islam, UNO of Sadar Upazila Pabna were present to distribute the items.

Muslim Aid distributes Life Changing Gift On 4th February 2018, MAIT-Rangpur organized Distribution of Life Changing Gift Programme’ 2017

where Md. Abul Kashem Panel Mayor, Rangpur City Corporation, 32 Number Word was presents as the Chief Guest. It was distributed with the financial assistance from MAA international, Australia, one of the donor agencies of Muslim Aid Bangladesh office as part of their last year Ramadan programme. Sewing machine, Rickshaw van, goat, grocery assistance, etc. have been distributed as the means of their livelihoods. The event has been published locally by several local newspapers.
