There’s only one rule – you can’t repeat any word at all. I usually find that four sets of two lines works well. Look at all the ideas and pick the best ones, find better words or change the order – eg, my lines above could become: Looking – staring – glowing – glaring staring looking glowing glaring Try writing about different types of monsters – scary, cute, funny, disgusting – and see which words work best for each particular type.
