HISTORIC AND HOMELYCompletely gutted by fire in 1911, the classic Georgian Sledmere House was carefully rebuilt under exacting direction of soldier, diplomat and Orientalist Sir Mark Sykes 6th Baronet, who ensured it survives today as the most fitting home for the unique family collection of art and antiques. A house that will capture your heart which has fascinating stories to tell.

GLORIOUS GARDENSOpen throughout the year the grounds and gardens at Sledmere are renowned for the seasonal interest and inspired planting. You can expect to see, in due season, snowdrops, tulips, spring bulbs, roses, summer exotics and wonderful late summer perennials. Within the early 18th century walled garden there are a succession of stunning, individual smaller gardens.

FUN AND ADVENTUREThe Farm Park is home to our collection of rare breed animals. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand and always keen to introduce and explain all about the animals. Tread quietly and you might be lucky enough to get a glimpse of some newborns. Then why not let off some steam in the adventure playground for all ages where you can clamber, balance and slide to your hearts content. We are very proud to announce that this year we have achieved Rare Breed Survival Trust - Conservation Farm Park status and also are now an approved Shire Horse Society centre.

SHOPPING AT SLEDMEREWe have three unique retail shops to explore. The Woodyard for an inspirational range of gifts, homeware, garden plants and equipment. Browse books, cards and prints at the Papertree and our very carefully selected range of food and drink in the Farm Shop.

HOME TO THE SLEDMERE SHIRESThe Historic Stable Block is home to the magnificent ‘Sledmere Shires’ who are regularly at work in the grounds. Next door is the unique museum of The Wagoners’ Special Reserve.
