oat is a line o thermally resistant glassware designed with simple orms and clean lines to emphasize the expressivecolours and charms o the tea, scotch, juice, or other desired beverage, served within. The suspended bowl

design o the oat pieces creates a lens o liquid colour that projects a play o coloured light onto the table top.

o loat glassware is handcrated by master glassblowers in the Czech Republ ic rom the inest water-

c lear German boros i l icate g lass. Th is extremely pure and chemica l ly iner t mater ia l i s res istant to

thermal shock, al lowing al l loat glassware to saely be used with both boil ing hot and icy cold l iquids.

The unique suspended bowl design o the pieces, aside rom creating the oat illusion, ur ther perorms the practical

unction o insulating the hand rom the beverage. When used or a chilled drink, small beads o condensation willaccumulate on the underbe lly o the bowl, adding delicacy to the optical eect (rather than making rings on your table top).

a vacuum, creating a thermally insulating space to maintain a hot, or icy cold serving temperature. This allows

the tea vessel to maintain the simple orm o a cyl inder, to be held and poured directly without the added

appendage o a handle. With the tea light candle lit below the tea lantern, the ambient light, together with the

colour, ragrance and steam o the tea, transcends the pragmatic to create a space and an engaging experience.

Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen, trained as architects, designed the original tea lantern in 2001, as part o a study

to create simple and beautiul objects designed o only a single material. Their inspi ration or the tea lantern was the idea osuch an object defning an intimate place o gathering, or contemplation, through qualities o light, warmth, ragrance and

taste. The oat tea set has received international design awards and has been acquired by important design museums.

oat has subsequently expanded into a ull line o complimentary barware, drawing rom the same original inspirations.
