Although a temporary and only in my position a few months my manager gave me solo responsibility for Fragment F2 Concentrate procedure. Human Prothrombin was digested by Bovine Factor XA then the fragment F2 was purified from the digest by liquid column chromatography. I caught several errors that had been introduced into the documented procedure due to a Change Request two years earlier. These errors had resulted in lowered purity and yield of the F2 fragment. Upon implementation of the corrections with managerial approval, I achieved the highest purity and yield results they had seen in three years for the F2 fragment.

Equipment and methods used in my work are as follows: Pharmacia FPLC (fast protein liquid chromatography), Pharmacia BioPilot (liquid chromatography), Pharmacia LKB Phastsystem (electrophoresis), conductivity meter, pH meter, centrifuges, MLA Electra 800 Automatic Coagulation timer, APV Gaulin Homogenizer, Beckman DU 7500 Spectrophotometer, and a 30L Micros Fermentor/Bioreactor.
