The task was to prepare an exceptional resume that captured unique elements of each candidate. Once students identified a sequence of three progressively more responsible positions in their chosen field, they were asked to identify a minimum of five prospective employers to interview. They prepared scripts to approach representatives of the company as part of a more proactive effort. The winner of the process was Earl Clarke, from Trinidad - Tobago, who eventually had four employers looking to hire him. He took one job, however, is still in negotiations for future prospective employment as part of a larger career plan. Congratulations Earl! You are a true Ambassador for Mohawk College. 1.1 The International Student Ambassadors hosted three career-planning meetings in Aprilto support graduates getting a job placement. 1.4 Several Student Development Division staff, representing Counselling, Peer Tutoring,Disability Services, Dispute Resolution & Human Rights and Health Services, attendedthe VIP Orientation Day on Saturday, April 30 at the four main campuses. The event waswell attended and staff received positive feedback from applicants and guests. [Submittedby Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and Learning Services]

1.5 There were a total of 440 student contacts in Counselling from all campuses during themonth of April 2005. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and Learning Services].

1.6 The Peer Tutor Centre, which is located on the second floor of the Library at FennellCampus, was available for students on the 2nd of May to register for tutorial services forthe summer 2005 semester. The hours of the Centre run Monday through Thursday9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. There was success in recruitingtutors through program co-ordinators and faculty recommendations, campus connectionadvertisement and campus wide poster blitzing. This will allow students early accessduring the semester to receive services. The Centre is being utilized by tutors andtutees on a daily basis for tutorial sessions, and students are using it as a quiet place tostudy. Along with tutorial sessions and individual studying, students are using theCentre for group studying sessions. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and LearningServices]

1.7 Eighty-seven percent of students responded positively to a Residence SatisfactionSurvey conducted during April regarding their residence experience. [Submitted by CatherineDrea, Vice President, Student and Learning Services].

1.8 The Student Life Department held an Orientation Day on April 28, 2005 for full-timestudents working in the College for the summer under the Campus StudentEmployment Program. There are currently 110 students employed through the program. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and Learning Services].

1.9 The Library @ Mohawk wrapped up Phase III of its web site usability study in June of 2005. The study took one year to complete and comprised of threephases that took place in June 2004, December 2004, and May 2005. Students wereobserved while using the Library's web site, TheBRAIN. 1.10 The Student Life Department hosted Student Appreciation Day on June 1, 2005 at allcampuses with the support of the MSA and various college departments. Students weretreated to free food, games, prizes and giveaways. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President,Student and Learning Services].

1.11 The Athletics and Recreation Department held an energizing Fitwalk on June 2, 2005 forstaff and students. The event also included a complimentary lunch and guest speaker. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and Learning Services].

1.12 The Spring 2005 Convocation ceremonies were held at the Sanderson Centre inBrantford and the McIntyre Theatre in Hamilton on June 1, 2, and 3, to recognize over1800 graduates. For the first time, graduates of the advanced level Apprenticeshipprograms were invited to attend the formal Convocation ceremonies. The firstgraduating class of the BScN collaborative program with McMaster University, MohawkCollege and Conestoga College was held at Hamilton Place on June 9, 2005. 1.13 The Athletics and Recreation Department held a trip to see the Toronto Blue Jays vs.Boston Red Sox baseball game at the Rogers Centre on May 25, 2005. There was alsoan 18-Hole golf tournament at the Southern Pine Golf and Country Club on June 9, 2005. Upcoming special events include Horseback Trail Riding on July 12, 2005 and aHamilton Tiger Cats vs. BC Lions football game on July 23, 2005. 1.14 The Athletics and Recreation Department summer intramural lineup includes a summer5x5 Challenge (Ultimate Frisbee, Grass Volleyball, Throton, Kickball and 3-Pitch),Ultimate Frisbee, Co-ed 3-Pitch, Co-ed Volleyball and a Ball Hockey tournament. 1.15 Confirmations to Offers for the Fall 2005 semester were up over last year’s at this timeby 100. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and Learning Services]

1.16 Small Business Management students concluded their business plan presentations inearly April. During these sessions, they summarized and “defended” theircomprehensive business plans to faculty and business professionals from the localbusiness community. 1.17 Several Small Business Management program graduates attended the recent V.I.P.Saturday where they provided testimonials to applicants and prospective applicants.

Reid MacWilliam, Program Coordinator, offered a one-hour information session on theprogram and Brandy Gowling, a 1993 graduate, described her own “entrepreneurialpath”, which includes ownership of a driving school and make-up artist to the stars(including Jeff Healey, Mariah Carey, Mr. Dressup, Howard Hampton and MichaelCoren). 1.18 On Friday, March 4, 2005, Mr. Karmel Sakran of the law firm Sakran & Associates inBurlington participated in a presentation to Office Administration Legal students. Hisspoke about the practice of family law in Ontario and discussed the current legislationaffecting family law matters, as well as the role of the legal office administrativeassistant. Following his presentation, Mr. Sakran also had a very productive question-and-answer hour with the students. [Submitted by Dale Schenk, Executive Dean, Faculty of Business]

1.19 Office Administration Legal Program students were given an opportunity to practice theirjob search and interview skills with volunteers from our legal community, during theannual ‘interview practice’ evening. With the support of twelve law firms from Hamilton,Burlington, and Brantford each student participated in a half-hour mock interview with alawyer, human resources manager, or office manager from one of the firms. Theinterviewers provided the students with feedback concerning their strengths andweaknesses, and the students then evaluated the entire process in a writtensubmission to the program coordinator. 1.20 Two Enterprise Business graduates were selected to receive college medals at theirconvocation ceremony on Friday, June 3. Shane Thomson received the gold medal foroutstanding academic excellence (a 95% overall GPA), his work in establishing andmanaging ACE Mohawk (the Business Club), his contributions to student recruitmentand program advocacy, and his dedication to community service. Shane was also therecipient of the President's Award for Academic Excellence and StudentAmbassadorship at the Business Management Awards night held in April. Faron Benoitwas the recipient of the silver medal. Faron maintained an excellent academic recordwhile assisting students in both the student development and peer tutoring areas, andworking with various community outreach services. Both students received high praisefrom all their instructors for their solid work ethic, outstanding performance in theclassroom, and willingness to help fellow students. 1.21 An agreement has been signed between the Mohawk College Faculty of Business andthe Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) which enables graduates fromvarious Business Management programs to receive advanced standing towards thedesignation of a Certified Sales Professional (CSP). Courses taken by Businessstudents in their program of studies, have been accepted as six of the corecompetencies required by CPSA. With an additional two years of sales related workexperience, the graduate will qualify for the CSP designation. [Submitted by Dale Schenk,Executive Dean, Faculty of Business]

1.22 On Wednesday May 18th the Mohawk College Business Management programs hostedthe second annual ‘Marketing Challenge’. This successful event welcomed studentsand faculty from secondary schools in the Hamilton, Brantford and Burlington area.

Students participated in a variety of business related competitions including a visualmerchandising event which utilized the retail windows in C-Wing, merchandise providedby Bootlegger of Lime Ridge Mall and garnered tremendous audience support. Lunchwas provided by the Renaissance Banquet and Special Events Center which is ownedby an Alumnus of the Business Marketing Program and featured a keynote speech byAdam Provost, Senior Director of Sales, Marketing and Public Relations for the HamiltonTiger Cats.

All the events the students participated in were judged by members of the businesscommunity who in many cases were Alumni of the Business Management Programs.Student participants and their faculty were hosted for the day by our Marketing andBusiness Management students. These students took great delight in proudly showingoff their College and were true ambassadors of the Business Management Program.

The day concluded with an awards ceremony. Over 250 students, faculty, volunteers andjudges participated in the day providing Mohawk College and the BusinessManagement programs with the enviable opportunity of connecting with potentialstudents and the community. The event secured tremendous support from thecommunity and included over fifteen key sponsors. 1.23 Over 200 students in their final semester of the Office Administration and Tourism andTravel programs had an opportunity to bridge the transition between the classroom andthe “real world” by participating in a two-week work placement. By working with local

1.24 In order to improve service to students, on May 2, 2005 Accounting Services introducedan Electronic banking payment option for students. Payments can be made on theiraccount from the convenience of an ATM machine, personal computer or from their ownbank. In order to encourage use of this new payment option, notices were mailed out tostudents with their May 2005 Statement of Account explaining how to utilize this option.The new electronic banking payment option has also been added to the Fall 2005 FeeStatement. For the month of May, $1,368.71 was received and successfully processedfrom 4 students via electronic banking.[Submitted by Dick Raha, Vice President, Finance & Administration]

1.25 The Annual Health Sciences and Human Services Student Awards Ceremony was heldon Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at the Fennell Campus, in the McIntyre Theatre with areception that followed in the North Cafeteria. 109 awards were presented at this year’sceremony. 1.26 The Medical Imaging Technology Ultrasonography (MIT) graduates continue to performextremely well on the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)certification examinations. Our graduates wrote forty-four registry examinations in 2004with a success rate of 100% (the global pass rate was 66%). In 2003, the MITgraduates wrote 61 examinations – 98% of them were successful, compared to a globalpass rate of 59.7%. 1.27 Held on Saturday, April 30th, VIP Day offered potential students and their families a chanceto tour Mohawk College, ask questions of the faculty and staff, and see demonstrations ofhigh-tech equipment. In addition to the information booths in the gym, there was also anEngineering Technology Showcase in the Information Technology wing. The EngineeringDivision’s most innovative equipment was on display for potential students to see whattypes of leading edge technology they will have an opportunity to use at Mohawk College. At the Stoney Creek campus, tours of the facilities and a showcase in the Cafeteria werewell attended. 1.30 The 1st Annual Mohawk College Golf Classic for alumni, employees and friends of theCollege will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2005. Over 100 participants have registeredfor a fun filled day. [Submitted by Carolyn Gray, Vice President, Community Services and EconomicDevelopment]

1.31 The Alumni Relations Department hosted a Meet and Greet on Saturday, May 28, 2005in Calgary for Alumni living in Calgary and surrounding areas. Nine Alumni and theirpartners will be attending with one being from the College’s first graduating class of1967. 1.32 All newly accepted students to Mohawk College were sent an Entrance Scholarshipapplication enabling them to win a $1,000 Ontario Student Opportunity Trust FundScholarship for September 2005. 1.33 The Faculty of Continuing Education extends its congratulations to Brandy Gowling, forher recognition at the Women of the Year Awards at a ceremony held on Tuesday May31, 2005. Brandy graduated from the Applied Cosmetics and Make-up Artistry CertificatePrograms in the Fall of 2004. She was honoured with the Woman of the Year Award inthe category of Health and Wellness. She is the owner of Take Control Cosmetix, acompany that makes facial prosthetics for surgical patients. [Submitted by Carolyn Gray, VicePresident, Community Services and Economic Development]

1.34 The Canadian Library Association conference internship was given to Tamara Monsteras this year’s winner. This award is given to a student in a library and informationtechnician program. As the recipient, Tamara will be traveling to the Canadian LibraryAssociation conference in Calgary next month. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION

2.1 Mohawk College and the Residence were used for the Ontario Association ofInternational Educators (OAIE)/Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE)Regional Conference for 2005. International Education's staff, along with staff fromMcMaster University's International Students' Office, hosted the event. The conferencewas well attended with 150 participants. The annual conference provides attendees,from Ontario colleges and universities, the opportunity to engage in workshops andsessions related to recruiting and supporting international students. ColumbiaInternational College, in Hamilton, hosted a dinner for the participants and used theopportunity to showcase their facilities. 2.2 The Ontario Committee of International Education (OCIE) was hosted by MohawkCollege in May. College representatives from Centennial, George Brown, Fanshawe,Durham, St. Lawrence, Niagara and Fleming were in attendance. The groupheld a round table discussion concerning international recruitment, internationalprojects, and concerns about immigration as they pertain to International Education inthe Ontario College system. 2.3 On May 6 – 8 at the Third Canadian Mathematics Education Forum at the University ofToronto, John Kezys, a professor on the Math Team, participated in the working group toproduce strategies to deal with students at risk. Two hundred Canadian mathematicseducators were invited to address issues of mathematics education in Canada. 2.4 On May 14 John Kezys and Tom Sutton served on the panel “Pathways from High SchoolMath Curriculum to College” at the OAME (Ontario Association of Math Education) 2005Conference at York University. [Submitted by the Math Team]

2.5 Dylan Vanbuskirk, a Recreation Practicum Student from the Recreation and LeisureServices Program is working with the Ancillary Services Department during the summersemester assisting with the PA Day and Summer Camp programs. 2.6 Installation of the latest GE Healthcare medical imaging technology has beencompleted over the last few months in the IAHS, Medical Imaging Laboratory. The newequipment includes a CT scanner, a digital radiography system and an extensiveinvestment in Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS). The funding forthese major upgrades are part of the 2.2 million received from the Strategic SkillsInvestment Program for the start-up of the Mohawk-McMaster Medical RadiationSciences program. 2.7 On Wednesday April 27th, the Computer Science and Information Technology departmentwas host to up to 80 high school students from Parkside and Glendale. The studentsrotated through three events hosted by the Computer Science and Information Technologyand Electrotechnology Departments, getting hands-on exposure to computer relatedcareers as well as an in depth Mohawk College experience. Based on completing someMath questions, the day ended with door prizes. Many thanks are extended to all theEngineering faculty and staff that participated and also to Colin Campbell of Glendale andGrant Darby of Parkside for bringing their students on campus. 2.8 Meetings to finalize pathways for students in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Boardand develop an articulation agreement for guaranteed entry to Mohawk College EngineeringTechnology programs are progressing well; the Chemical and Biotechnology ArticulationAdvisory Committee met for the first time on Friday April 22 to generate input to the SteeringCommittee and the Manufacturing Articulation Committee final meeting was held on May13 to discuss exemptions. A sub-committee of the steering Committee is meeting on June7 to finalize the pathways and to discuss the terms of the articulation agreement as well asplans to roll the pathways documents out to other Boards of Education in theHamilton/Halton and Grand Erie regions. 2.9 The Mechanical and Industrial Department Program Mapping exercise commenced May 2. A plan and schedule were established that will result in a draft interim report for eachprogram by June 20. 2.10 On Wednesday, May 25th, the Engineering Division welcomed 550, grade 7 students to theFennell Campus for the School-College Work Destination College day. Students

participated in hands-on activities using a variety of technology equipment in the chemical,manufacturing, construction, computer technology, electronics and transportation programareas. This day was an excellent opportunity to encourage these students to considerengineering as a future career and to demonstrate how exciting and fun engineeringtechnologies can be. 2.11 Throughout April, Bill Brimley, Chair, Chemical, Environmental and BiotechnologyDepartment and Mechanical and Industrial Technology department and Don Shaw,Chemical, Environmental and Biotechnology Advisory Committee member have beencollaborating with Lambton College and Community Economic Development at Mohawkto produce a proposal in response to an RFP from the Ontario Human ResourcesChemical Sector Committee Phase II. Mohawk College was the lead institution on PhaseI and Lambton has the lead role in Phase II. The proposal was submitted May 1, 2005. Lambton College will undertake the review of the Chemical Operators andInstrumentation/Electrical Maintenance focus of Phase II and Mohawk will undertake theLaboratory & Quality Assurance Personnel and Mechanical Maintenance portions. Weexpect to have an ongoing role in this valuable project that promises to respond to theanticipated challenges in Ontario’s Chemical Sector. 2.12 During the evenings of April 18, 19 and 21, the Distance Education staff proctoredapproximately 500 Distance Education and OntarioLearn exams for the Winter 2005semester. Other full-time Continuing Education staff and additional part-time staff wererecruited to assist on these nights. 2.13 As of May 19, 2005, Mohawk College was fourth out of 22 colleges in total OntarioLearnregistrations. With those registrations, Distance Education has increasedapproximately 30% from 2004. [Submitted by Carolyn Gray, Vice President, Community Services andEconomic Development]

2.14 There was a luncheon held on May 27, 2005, which brought together the members ofthe Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Veteran’s Association and the ten exceptional studentsthat have been selected to receive the RHLI Veteran’s award for 2005. The RHLIVeteran’s Association has established a $50,000 endowment in order to fund studentscholarships. The student recipients were selected for this award based on theiracademic excellence combined with the need for financial assistance. 3.1 On May 25 to 27, the OCMA (Ontario Colleges Math Association) conducted the 25th

Annual Conference at the Talisman Mountain Resort, Kimberley Ontario (seehttp://math.mohawkcollege.ca/OCMA/conf05/home.html). This event attracted Ontariocollege math faculty from 19 colleges. Millie Atkinson, Gary Helmer, John Kezys andTom Sutton contributed to the year long planning effort towards this event. 3.2 Staff Development Officer, Cate Walker Hammond, presented two workshops: “Managing Change Successfully”, and “Engaging your students with CooperativeLearning Strategies” at The Health Sciences and Human Services Faculty Retreat. 3.3 Twenty-seven Mohawk College Faculty attended Phase 2 of the College EducatorDevelopment program, held at Fanshawe College, May 16 -18. [Submitted by Catherine Drea,Vice President, Student and Learning Services].

3.4 Martha Fox (former Co-ordinator, Dispute Resolution and Human Rights) assumed therole of Manager, Student Issues and Disability Services on May 2, 2005. A transitionphase will occur during May and June in support of this new direction. Matters relating tostudent issues and Disability Services will be referred to Martha while staff matters maybe referred to HR Staff Services. 3.5 Several Counselling and Disability Services staff attended the Ontario CollegeCounsellors (OCC) and College Committee on Disability Issues (CCDI) conferencefrom May 16 – 19, 2005 in Picton, Ontario. The conference was hosted by Loyalist

3.6 The Student Development Division support staff held a professionaldevelopment/planning day on May 19, 2005. Activities included an in-service on mentalhealth conditions, a presentation on e-mail etiquette, a video on ‘Resolving Conflict atWork’, case studies and discussion as well as planning for the upcoming academicyear. 3.9 Connections ’05 represented the third annual e-learning conference by the Innovationand Applied Research Centre. It was attended by more than 90 Mohawk staff. Participants were invited to contribute to the formation of an e-learning plan in theopening plenary session and attendees were able to learn, share, and connect at 18different presentations and discussions aimed at promoting greater and more effectiveuse of educational technology. 3.10 Librarians Lois Wall, Gail Shackleton, Cynthia Williamson, and Marilyn McDermottpresented information-rich sessions at the Connections Conference, April 27 on hottopics such as search engines, Internet management tools, the faculty space and e-books. Sessions were extremely well attended and feed-back indicated that facultywas appreciative of the opportunity to become more efficient web usersand to learn more about library e-resources. 3.11 Jenn Horwath, Cybrarian at the Library @ Mohawk, took part in a Rotary International-sponsored Group Study Exchange to the Philippines on April 1-30, 2005. During the exchange, she visited libraries in colleges, universities and schools. Information was exchanged throughout the district located in the region of Luzon. Acultural understanding of the Philippines was developed through living directly with

3.13 John Dunn and Gail Shackleton attended the Treo Road show in Toronto on May 12,2005. The session demonstrated how handheld Treo computers/smart phonesintegrate communication and information and improve productivity within theorganization. Over 80 librarians from across the province attended the one-dayevent that was by the opening keynote from Dr. Joseph Janes, Associate Dean forAcademics, Information School University of Washington. Reid was also awarded his third “Paul Harris Fellow” recognition May 10th by AncasterRotary for his purchase of the 100th water well in Rotary’s “Water for Life” project in Haiti.

4.1 During the month of May, Leo Barsony, Co-ordinator, International Education met withrepresentatives from China, Korea and the Middle East. 4.6 On May 18th, the Faculty of Engineering Technology and the Community EconomicDevelopment and Access department jointly participated in the Burlington Manufacturers’Trade Show to showcase Mohawk College Engineering Technology programs. 4.7 The Halton Apprenticeship Advisory Council Honour Roll 2004 Breakfast was held on May19. Chris Blackwood, Chair, Building and Construction Sciences was in attendance topresent an award, and Peter Olynyk, Professor, Building and Construction Sciences andTim Campbell, Professor, Motive Power were also present in support of the event. Fivelocal businesses were honoured at the breakfast attended by community members,educators, students and business and industry representatives. 4.8 On April 4th, Don Burroughs and Shelley Kitchen attended a training needs identificationmeeting at the Hamilton Airport. This meeting was to showcase what course,certificates, programs and services are available from Mohawk College for Airport staff. Because of their employees’ shift work schedule, Distance Education is the most viableContinuing Education option. 4.9 On May 3, Shelley Kitchen attend a CON*NECT-organized meeting at Humber College toaddress the implementation of the National Knowledge Exam and the ProfessionalPractice Exam online courses/workshops in partnership with the Human ResourcesProfessional Association of Ontario (HRPAO). 4.10 On May 3, 2005 Audie McCarthy, Training Consultant attended the Hamilton Chamber ofCommerce, “Good Morning Hamilton” event to meet potential business leaders whomay be interested in either our customized training offer or our “Tools for Business”program which will be implemented in the fall. This program consists of a series ofworkshops open to individuals, private and public sector businesses and organizationsthat may only have one or a few employees requiring training in areas such asleadership, building and maintaining relationships, managing group activities andothers. 4.11 A microcomputer-training program taught by Rosemary Imola will be delivered at theBrantford Campus for quality control employees of Grand River Enterprises from SixNations. 4.12 S.C. Johnson has recently completed a Packaging Operator Upgrading Program for 15employees taught by Ed Radko and delivered in the evenings at the Brantford Campus.This program was originally designed and developed by Mohawk College and over thelast few years over 135 S.C. Johnson employees have completed the 30-hour course.

Recently Business Development and S.C. Johnson have begun discussions oncreating a more significant partnership by developing a certificate program for theirPackaging Operators and Packaging Technicians. A proposal from the College to beginthe process by conducting a training needs analysis has recently been accepted by thecompany. 4.13 Brantford Chemicals has recently completed two classes of the Chemical OperatorsCertificate Program. This was delivered on-site at the company’s location in Brantford. [Submitted by Carolyn Gray, Vice President, Community Services and Economic Development]

4.14 Two one-week Cross Connector/Backflow Prevention courses were recently completed.These courses are delivered to local companies at the Stoney Creek Campus. ThisNovember we will be providing the one-week cross connector program to Bruce NuclearPower at their location on Georgian Bay. 6.1 The Summer Camp Staff from the Ancillary Services Department participated in theConcession Street fest held on June 4, 2005 providing information to the communityabout Mohawk’s PA Day and Summer Camp programs. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, VicePresident, Student and Learning Services].

6.2 Matthew Schnarr, the Assistant Camp Director in the Ancillary Services Departmentpromoted the PA Day and Summer Camp programs on Cable 14’s Coffeebreak on June9, 2005. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and Learning Services

6.3 The Athletics and Recreation Department hosted the Mountaineer Hall of Fame Dinnerand Awards on June 10, 2005. [Submitted by Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student and LearningServices].

6.4 The Marketing & Communications department has recently made significant gains inputting the name and reputation of Mohawk College in the limelight. Mohawk Collegewas a Silver Sponsor of the 5th Annual Canadian New Media Awards held at the Carlu inToronto on May 30, 2005.

The Canadian New Media Awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments ofindividuals and companies in the Canadian new media industry—web sites, CD-ROMsvideo games and more—and help promote the new media sector, providing inspirationfor those preparing to join the industry. This year, the Canadian New Media Awardsreceived nominations from companies and individuals representing almost everyprovince in Canada. Marilyn Gris, Web Communications Coordinator, submitted anomination recognizing the contribution of w8nc inc. in redesigning and restructuring thecorporate web site.

Ronald Holgerson, Executive Director, Marketing & Communications served as one ofthe 110 judges, representing all regions of Canada from the private, public and non-profit sectors. Mr. Holgerson also presented the “Pixel” award to the recipient of theEducator of the Year Award.

The Marketing & Communications department turned out en masse to lend a hand withguest registration, greeting and ushering, preparing take-home gifts, green room

attendant and photographer’s assistant. Dressed in matching black slacks, white shirtsand Mohawk College black vests; the team was a very visible and welcome presence. Thanks are extended to Linda Marshall, Lisa Fitzpatrick, Holly Angus, Lacey Cameron,Adam Carter, Sanela Cosic, Amanda Hartwick, Elizabeth Klapwyk, Robin McNicoll, TriptiNinan for their tireless efforts through the long, yet exhilarating day.

In keeping with Mohawk’s Strategic Plan 2004-2007, the Marketing & Communicationsdepartment has undertaken the development of brochures highlighting the 12 targeted‘niche’ programs. The department is pleased to report the first printing of theManufacturing Technologies brochures, 20,000 copies, has been well received and asecond printing has been ordered, while those for Graduate Opportunities andBiotechnology have been completed, produced and are now available for distribution. Both the body copy and photography for brochures featuring Communications Media,Insurance and General Arts and Science have been completed and are in the finaldesign phase. The department’s media relations assistant has been reassigned topublications and copy for the Applied Music, Nursing, Medical Technologies and PublicSafety and Security programs is presently being composed. The summer will see thecompletion of brochures for the ‘dynamic dozen’ with distribution anticipated for the earlyfall, and to continue throughout the coming academic year. The ‘postcard’ brochuresproduced by the Graphic Design students for V.I. P. Saturday will be reprinted fordistribution to regional secondary schools in September.

Staff recruiters have been kept busy with presentations to Career Education classes atHamilton, Halton, Brant and Niagara secondary schools. Recruiters have also attendedand participated in a number of conferences and trade shows this spring.

The college’s conversion strategy is continuing to develop, with letter from all Deans tonewly accepted students, following their confirmation of the offer of admission.

Coming soon to a campus near you, Mohawk College will be “One Stop Shopping,” andwith this in mind, the new Registration Guide has been printed and was ready fordistribution on June 1st
