WHAT IS MODERNISM?

• Modernism was a movement that spread through many formats.

• For example, art, dance, music, literature and philosophy.

• It was influenced by politics, scientific and technological innovation and the Industrial Revolution.

• The guiding principles of this movement were a break from old traditions and continual advancement.

• A late 20th-century style and concept in the arts, architecture, and criticism, which represents a departure from modernism and is characterized by the self-conscious use of earlier styles and conventions, a mixing of different artistic styles and media, and a general distrust of theories.
