Clothing Designer CindyBapst is Changing HaitianWomen’s FuturesCindy Bapst, clothing designer and ownerof the line Union of Angels has partneredwith the charity “Helping Haitian Angels”.After learning the charity’s goals and mis-sion, Bapst has always been so drawn towork with this charity since she has heardabout the charity’s mission that she creat-ed a program for the young Haitian wom-en that “Helping Haitian Angels” benefits.“Helping Haitian Angels” is a growing 501(c) (3) non -profit started by Bill and Deb-bie Harvey. After spending time in Haiti,the Harveys witnessed first hand the aw-ful living conditions that people in Haiti

have to endure, which is why they built KayAnj D’ayiti (Angel House Orphanage). Ithomes 42 children and young adults andprovides them with excellent education sothat they are empowered to be the nextgeneration of capable and compassionateHaitian leaders.What is so compelling about “Helping Hai-tian Angels” to Bapst is the charitiy’s pur-pose. The goal is not to take the childrenout of Haiti but to create better futures forthese children through education so thatthey can become productive citizens of theircountry. Bapst has decided to create asewing program for the young women inthis charity. In which these young womenwill observe, learn from and work with sew-ing tutors and will sew unique dresses thatwill be included in the Union of Angels col-lection in which all profits will go to the char-ity for each dress sold.These uniquely designed dresses will havea tag attached that says “Thank you forChanging my Future”. Said Bapst, “I haveheard awful stories about what happens tomany of these children in Haiti becausethey are not given proper guidance, supportand education. I am so honored to be ableto work with this charity and help providethese young women the ability to learn todevelop a skill. It is wonderful to donatemoney to a charity but to really make a dif-ference by helping these young adults de-velop skills which will increase their selfesteem is much greater in my eyes.”Within the next ten years, Helping HaitianAngels is hoping to have created 80 or-phanages in Haiti.
