are & MaintenanceCCleaning After Use

Clean and disinfect your tanning bed’sbench and canopy after each use. Use anon-abrasive disinfectant cleaner thatdoes not contain ammonia or ammoniaderivatives. Ammonia may damage theacrylic shield. Spray the acrylic lightlywith disinfectant and wipe dry with aclean soft cloth. Wipe the canopy gridwith a soft cloth slightly dampened withdisinfectant then wipe dry. We recom-mend SunQuest® disinfectant andSunQuest® acrylic cleaner.

Thorough Periodic Cleaning

Introduction

The cooling fans draw air through the bedand over time will cause a dust buildupon the lamps and reflectors. This willreduce the tanning effectiveness of thebed. When a dust buildup is observed, itis necessary to thoroughly clean theinside of the bench and canopy.Warning! Disconnect sunbed from elec-trical power before cleaning.

Cleaning the Canopy and Bench

Step 1. Remove the acrylic shield, metalgrid and lamps as described inReplacing Lamps.

Step 2. With a soft cloth, wipe the entirelength of each lamp to removeany film buildup.

Step 3. Clean both sides of the acrylicshield and grid with a non-ammonia disinfectant cleaner.

Step 4. Wipe the reflectors with a cleandamp cloth.

Step 5. Re-install the lamps, acrylicshield and grid.

Mechanical Inspection

Your tanning bed has been built for yearsof service. To ensure trouble-free opera-tion throughout its life, inspect the unit’smechanical integrity every 400-500 hoursof use.

• Inspect the unit’s fasteners verifyingthat all are firmly in place. Pay partic-ular attention to the hinge bolts.

• Inspect gas springs for signs of wear.Gas springs that will not hold thecanopy in the full open position whenraised should be immediately replaced.

• Inspect the timer as indicated in thismanual under Timer Maintenance.

• Inspect the AC power cord and itsconnections.

• Inspect the acrylic. Broken, crackedor badly scratched acrylics should beimmediately replaced.

Replacing Lamps

Introduction

To be assured of maximum tanning effec-tiveness, change lamps after approximate-ly 800-1000 hours of use. Tanning willcontinue after this time but at a slowerrate. To ensure trouble-free operation ofyour sunbed, replace the lamp starterswhenever the lamps are replaced.

Warning! Disconnect sunbed from elec-trical power before servicing.

Removing/Replacing Acrylic Shield andCanopy Grid

The acrylic shield in the bench and metalgrid in the canopy are both secured inplace by colored profile strips which runthe length of the canopy and bench, bothfront and back. To remove the strips, gen-tly pry up on the outside edge of the stripnear the middle of the bed with a flat, blunt object (such as a putty knife) untilthe retainer releases its latching action(See figure below). Continue prying upthe strip throughout its full length until

removed. Repeat for the other strips. Thelong edges of the acrylic shield andcanopy grid are now exposed.

Canopy Grid

By sliding the grid towards the head orfoot end it should drop out easily.

Bench Shield

Slide the acrylic shield toward the heador foot end of the bed. The short edge ofthe acrylic shield at the opposite endshould now be visible. Remove the shieldby lifting from this end.

After changing lamps, replace the acrylicshield and canopy grid by reversing theabove steps. Take special care to ensurethat the acrylic and grid are both cen-tered from head to foot beforeinstalling the profile strips. Replaceeach strip by first installing its ends intoplace under the endcaps, then workingtoward the center, pushing it into place.

Timer Maintenance

Your SunQuest sunbed is equipped with abackup shut-off timer which will auto-matically turn off the sunbed in theunlikely event of a malfunction of the pri-mary timer. This important safety featurealso prevents the user from re-setting thetimer before the end of the pre-set maxi-mum time interval. The electronic timerlimiting circuit is automatically reset eachtime the primary timer is turned to theOFF position.

Annually, or whenever your sunbed is re-lamped, check the operation and accura-cy of the timer system as follows. DONOT perform these tests with a person inthe sunbed.

Step 1. Obtain an accurate watch capa-ble of measuring in seconds. Setthe timer to its maximum inter-val. Using the watch, time howlong the lamps remain on. Thelamps should shut off within plusor minus 10% of the maximumtimer interval.

Step 2. Set the timer to the maximumtime interval. Wait ten minutes, then turn the knob back to themaximum time position. Theelectronic time limiting circuitshould turn the lamps off at anelapsed time equal to approxi-mately 10% beyond the maxi-mum timer interval, eventhough the primary timer con-tinues to show time left.

Call ETS Customer Service if your timerdoes not operate properly, or if you experience difficulty with these tests.
