White-water rafting in Colorado gives you an exciting opportunity to see the natural wonders and wildlife [DF 1] of

Colorado. The rivers have both calm water and rapids, [DF 1] and each one of them is graded according to its level of

difficulty, so you can choose one to suit you. [DF 8] Class I is the easiest with flat water and few obstacles, and Class VI

is the most advanced. [DF 8]

Infinity Travel offers multi-day trips that last two or three days, [DF 9] and prices start from HK$20 000, [DF 9] with all

the necessary equipment, such as wetsuits, helmets and life jackets, included. [DF 8]

Travellers who have been on this tour said that the guides were experienced and knowledgeable, and that they felt

safe even during scary moments. One customer even said that it was one of the most exciting things he had ever

done!

Cultural tourism is a type of tourism where tourists focus on the cultural aspects of a place. Nowadays, many

tourists are choosing it because they want a more fulfi lling and meaningful travel experience. They want to be

able to learn about and experience the local culture of a country.

There are many activities that tourists can do on a cultural tour, for example, visiting unusual locations and

interacting with local people. They can also visit museums, theatres and galleries to learn about a country’s

history and cultural heritage.

Recognising that cultural tourism is becoming more popular, [DF 3] Infi nity Travel is now offering a variety of cultural

tours. [DF 3] Apart from a tour to the Silk Road and Xi’an in China, [DF 4] and a tour to Florence and Paris, [DF 4] we

also provide a tour to Cairo in Egypt. [DF 4]

To learn more about our cultural tours, please visit www.infi nitytravel.com/culturaltours. [DF 4]

Proposing cultural tour to Budapest

[Source: DF 1, 2, 5, 6 & 7]

Dear Mr Chow

I am writing to propose a cultural tour to Budapest. [DF 2]

Budapest is the capital city of Hungary, [DF 6] and its offi cial language is Hungarian. [DF 5]

Travellers to Budapest can visit the Parliament [DF 7] and take a river cruise to see the city. [DF 1] They can also

climb the Castle Hill to Fishermen’s Bastion to look at the city. [DF 7] After a day’s sightseeing, travellers can relax

in one of the thermal baths, [DF 7] such as the Széchenyi Baths in City Park. They can also ride the tram [DF 1] to

experience local life.

We suggest a fi ve-day [DF 5] cultural trip, on which our customers could stay at the Continental Hotel. [DF 6] The

proposed cost for each customer is HK$15 000. [DF 5]

We sincerely hope that you will consider our proposal. We are very confi dent that the proposed tour to Budapest

would be a success. [DF 2]

[model answer]

Good morning, everyone. Today I’m going to talk about the potential of the cultural tourism market. [DF 2]

Cultural tourism has been gaining popularity recently. Between 2007 and 2015, tourists participating in cultural

tourism rose from less than 15% to more than 25%. [DF 8] During the same period, the annual expense on cultural

tourism increased from less than 40 million Hong Kong dollars to 100 million. [DF 8]

Popular destinations are mostly in Europe, such as France, Italy and Hungary, but we also see increasing numbers

of people joining cultural tours to Egypt, Mexico and Indonesia.

We’ve learned from online comments that tourists enjoyed visiting unusual locations, talking and interacting with

the locals, and learning about the history of a place. They also liked eating local food and wearing local clothes,

which made them feel like a local.

However, some were disappointed with their cultural tour because they didn’t find it any different from a sightseeing

tour, or found that the itinerary wasn’t flexible enough for the needs of older tourists.

That’s all for this presentation. Thank you for your attention.
