Mobile-X

Mobile-X has been developed by Skyrack, in association with Manx Telecom. Since the 1990’s, many companies have been striving to develop a mobile product which can truly integrate with a PBX (a private branch exchange which serves a particular business or office), or to fully simulate the functions and options which a PBX offers. Mobile-X – powered by Chameleon, Manx Telecom’s Smart SIM solution – does just that.

The Challenge “Most companies,” says John Murray, Chief Technology Officer at Skyrack, “are increasingly reliant on their mobile communication. Historically, they only needed a simple voice-only service, but mobile is now an integral part of everything they do. The ProductMobile-X offers typical landline and office PBX features on a SIM, making a company’s mobiles work as a fully functioning business phone system. In addition to offering traditional mobile connectivity for calls, texts, data, and voicemail – it can also be configured to provide any service or functionality which a conventional wired PBX can offer.

The user simply inserts the SIM into any unlocked 2G or 3G phone (not just expensive Smartphones) then decides on the features and numbers wanted to work on each phone. Being able to

access such functions as ring groups, call forwarding, out-of-hours schedules, voicemail-to-email, and even call recording, on a mobile makes every type of company more productive, more flexible, and able to offer a higher level of customer service.

Mobile-X works across the whole of the UK, and will roam internationally. It’s very secure, as calls are routed over the mobile GSM and Skyrack networks only and don’t use potentially vulnerable Internet or Wi-Fi networks; crucially there is no software or app to install that could harm the phone, or confuse the user.

Mobile-X is offered wholesale, and most components can be white-labelled. The customer relationship remains with the reseller for all normal operational activities: order handling, provisioning, 1st and 2nd level support (user management and training, incident management), and billing.

It gives resellers the kind of mobile solution options previously only possible with a custom MVNO setup of their own; something which is difficult for them to do because of the network engineering and systems integration this requires. Mobile-X, which provides a high call quality, with SMS and data, is fully resellable and re-billable on a white-label basis, is a far more attractive proposition.

Huge PotentialThe potential for mobile FMC revenues is enormous. For resellers with existing customer bases for fixed line or hosted PBX services, it’s possible to up sell and cross-sell these same services onto the mobile. Also, mobile-focussed resellers can start to access other voice service revenues with far better ongoing residual incomes than offered for airtime connections.
