classrooms, therefore more courses at ELW • Relieves pressure on limited DSL accommodation• In-country language training leads to new

Congo• DA requested 6 wk
ELT for 12 Congolese Army Officers at DSL
• Planning process:– Establish student SLP
level– Timetable/course
produced and endorsed– Resources allocated– 15hrs before student
arrival DA called to say students would not arrive
• New Plan• Security:
– Dedicated driver– In-country brief/mobiles– Maintain comms
throughout

– Students old enemies, no hostility
– Common language French
– Not General Interpreters’ ELT, Sub Saharan Defence Force
– Not SLP3– Virtually no resources,
PCs limited electricity– Training 0830-1430, no
breaks– Students have minimal
education– No understanding of
