  • Introduction

Today, despite the variety of information sources, it is quite difficult to choosea restaurant for dinner.

  • Chapter 1

    State-of-the-art

    1.1 Restaurant business processes

The Oxford Dictionary defines restaurant as a place where people pay to sitand eat meals that are cooked and served on the premises. [1] Of course, there are various types, which are mainly:

    Fast Food,

    Fast Casual,

    Family Style,

    Cafe or Bistro,

    Food Truck,

    Restaurant Buffet,

    Pop Up Restaurant,

    Fine Dining. [2]

In my work, I will focus on the fine dining restaurants, which are more formaland usually more expensive than other ones. Cambridge Advanced Learnersdictionary has the following definition of Fine dining: a style of eating thatusually takes place in expensive restaurants, where especially good food isserved to people, often in a formal way.[3]It is worth noting that in many sources there are special requirements forplace that demands being called Fine dining restaurant. For example, thereshould be an interesting menu that offers some unique items. Also, a customerservice in fine dining restaurant usually includes escorting customers to theirtable, holding a chair for women and explaining menu items without notes, etc. For every restaurant it is useful to have established support processes such as:

    Purchasing (raw) food,

    Storing (raw) food,

    Cook food,

    Serve the customer,

    Finance management,

    Personnel management,

    Marketing management. [4],[5],[6],[7]

In case of restaurant chain, among the processes mentioned above, for whichmanager of each restaurant should be responsible, it is necessary to definehis/her authorities and how the quality of his/her work will be evaluated.A restaurant chain has various advantages over a single restaurant. For ex-ample, wider possibility of loyalty programs, greater restaurant brand aware-ness, higher probability of returning customers visit due to existence of dif-ferent branches, given that high quality service is being constantly maintainedin each branch. It is obviously harder to manage a restaurant chain and totake advantage of one. My work will be dedicated to support of marketingprocess of a restaurant chain.

There is a wide range of restaurant marketing methods. They are mainlybased on constant monitoring of customers experience and needs, provid-ing care about them through every communication channel client could bereached.

Like every other business, restaurant needs to have its own style that coulddistinguish it from the other ones. It usually includes restaurant logo that insome way defines restaurants color pattern, which is then used in interior andsometimes even in meals.

    1.1.1 Marketing process

Lets take a look at the restaurant marketing strategies provided by POS Sec-tor website, which I found very interesting and the most complete ones.First in the list is a functional, intuitive and responsive website that willprovide at least basic information that is useful for both potential and return-ing customers:

    menu list,

detailed directions for both public and private transport,

table booking - it is good to have functional reservation system thatincludes:
