7. INSTALLATIONThe will be 3 parts:-

HARDWARE: CHASSIS

1. Remove the top cover of the MobiGATE chassis.

WARNING: Always switch off main power and disconnect power cord before removing cover!

2. Insert a brackets at the back of the GSM channel/modem.

3. Remove the nut.





4. Slide the modem into the bracket plate that already embed to the chasing.





5. Attach modem with bracket onto the bolt andtighten the nut to lock / hold the bracket.

6. Connect the antenna to the modem

7. Connect the RS232/Serial cable to modem.





8. Each power cable is labelled with “1”, “2”, “3”,“4”. Connect each power cable each modem.

9. The another cable is “5”.Connect the power cable to Ethernet serial cable power.

10.Eject the SIM tray and insert SIM cards into each GSM channel/modem. If necessary, disable SIM lock before inserting SIM cards.





11.For model SG-4-E, connect the LAN Cable into LAN port.While for model SG-4-U, connect the USB cable to USB port





12.Connect the power cord. Switch on the main power.

13.At the front panel of MobiGATE chassis, turnon switch no M1,M2,M3,M4 to power up all 4modem and C/A for serial to USB/Ethernet converter.

WARNING: Do not touch the power supply unit!

14.Make sure that the red LED of the GSM channel/modem is blinking.





INSTALLING DRIVER FOR MOBIGATE SG-4-U

This section applies to model: MOBIGATE SG-4-U

(source: Installation Guide for US401-ed. 3.odt)

1. Insert CD that contains the driver

2. Plug the USB cable to PC. “Found New Hardware Wizard” will appear. Select “Install from a list or specific folder (Advanced)” and click on Next.

3. Mark on “include this location in the search” and click on browse.

4. Browse the CD until you see a list of OS. Select the folder that matches your operating system.

5. In this example, we will assume that the OS is Windows XP 32 bit and will open the folder “Windows XP\CDM 2.06.00 WHQL Certified\CDM 2.06.00 WHQL Certified”. Finally click on “OK” button.





6. Then click on “Next” button

7. Please choose the driver that matches with the operating system. Click on Next.





8. Please wait until the installation finish and click on Finish.

9. IMPORTANT!! Since there are Four Serial ports needs to be installed with the driver, so after clickingon <Finish>, system will detect further hardware device and will ask to repeat the driver installation . So please repeat such installation from beginning until system DOES NOT detect any further hardware. Please note that recurring installation could be more than 4 times depending on different system environments.

10. When system does not detect any further hardware, then all the USB driver installation process are completed.

11. Then right click to “My computer” and click “Manage”.





12. To determine the COM port number of the 4 modems, goto “Device manager > Ports” and see if there are 4 com ports of “USB serial port” displayed.



Note: in this example, COM ports created are 14, 15, 16, 17

Therefore,Modem 1 ↔ COM port 14Modem 2 ↔ COM port 15Modem 3 ↔ COM port 16Modem 4 ↔ COM port 17



13. If “Device Manager” indicates with uncertain symbols as below screen, which means the installation is not correctly. Then please perform the installation again until it is correctly installed.





UN-INSTALLING DRIVER FOR MOBIGATE SG-4-U

1. In CD, look for the file “CDM v2.08.30 WHQL Certified.exe” and run it. Click extract to unpack and waiting their extract until finish.

2. After finish extract click on Next to install.





3. Completing the Device Driver Installation Wizard and click on Finish.

4. Go to Control Panel and to uninstall the 2 “FTDI CDM Driver Package”

5. Once completed, there will be no “USB Serial Port” in the “Device Manager”.





INSTALLING DRIVER FOR MOBIGATE SG-4-E

This section applies to model: MOBIGATE SG-4-E

There are 2 parts:

1. Configure the IP address and IP ports of MOBIGATE:-

(a) to change the default IP address of MobiGATE to IP adderss that is on your local area network; and

(b) to assign TCP/IP port for each modem.

2. Install virtual serial port and configure virtual COM port on PC/Server:-

(a) to map the MobiGATE's IP address and port with PC/server's COM port.

CONFIGURE IP ADDRESS

1. The default IP address of MOBIGATE is 192.168.0.10.

2. If the IP address has been changed, then the new address should be labelled on the MOBIGATEitself or contact [email protected].

3. To ensure both PC/Server and MobiGATE are on the same network, right click on “Local AreaNetwork in Network Connections →Properties”.

4. In General tab, select “Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) → Properties”.

5. A new window, “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” will appear. Tick on “Use the following IPaddress”, then change the IP address ofyour PC/Server to 192.168.0.5.

6. By configuring the IP address on the samenetwork:-

a) MOBIGATE is 192.168.0.10

b) PC/Server is 192.168.0.5then both of them can see each other.

7. Connect PC/Server to MOBIGATE directlyvia ethernet cable.





8. From the CD, look the folder “A. IP-search-utility”.

9. Run the “ETM.exe” or “Ethernet Manager”. It will show the IP address of MobiGATE, in this example,it is the default IP address 192.168.0.10.





10. Click on View → Refresh. This step is to make ETM send another query to get updated.

11. Click “Config → IP Address” tochange the IP address of MobiGATE tomatch the network address of the localarea network. Assuming that the LAN is192.168.10.x and subnet mask is255.255.0.0, then change to IP addressof MobiGATE to 192.168.10.223(ensure this new IP address does notconflict with another one) and thenpress OK.

12. Then click “Config → DeviceSetting”, it will open a web browserthat connects to the login pageMobiGATE at 192.168.10.233. Thepassword is empty, click on “Loginbutton”





13. After enter the Login button, “Controller Setup” will appear.





14. To configure the IP port for each serial port. set all the parameters (refer to the figure: 1.8). Then press the Update button (refer figure: 1.10).

Explanation:

• The number must start with 1000 and will be increased 1 when to Serial port 2 (Pleaserefer to Table 1.26).Choose TCP Server

• Interface is RS232 means is serial cable

15. After update button is pressed the following page will be shown. (see figure: 1.11). The configurationof Configure the IPaddress and IP ports ofMOBIGATE has beencompleted.

INSTALL VIRTUAL SERIAL PORT

1. In the CD, look for the folder “C. Virtual Com - 64-bit (2012)” or “C. Virtual-Com (2009-WIN-XP,2000,2003)” depedning on the OS of PC/Server.

2. Run “VserPortConsole.exe” (current version is 2.6.1)

3. Right-click on the VirtualSerialPort Console and choose Add Port (refer to figure: 1.13).

4. Make sure unchecked the “Auto Assign” in order to select the com port. Choose the Com Portnumber (that is NOT in use) and click OK and wait for few second.

5. Then select and right-click on selected comport and choose Add Net (refer figure: 1.15). Changethe Remote Address and Remote Port at TCP Client (see figure: 1.15) according to same IPaddress and Socket Port that we were used in ETM Program (refer figure: 1.9). Then press OKbutton.

6. To test the connection, open Hyper Terminal, fill in the name, then click OK.

7. Choose COM37 (same as comport of VirtualSerialPort Console) then click OK.

8. For Port Setting in Hyper Terminal (figure: 1.20), choose 115200 for Bits per second then click OK.

9. After OK button is clicked, the following figure 1.21 will appear. If the Hyper Terminal connects withthe converter successfully, the time clock at the “left lower” corner “Connected hh:mm:ss” will start





counting.

*To unconnected click “Disconnect”

10. Now you can see that the TCP Client = 192.168.10.223:1000 is connected.

SUMMARY

1. Directly connect to MOBIGATE to configure the IP port for each serial port.

a) To find the IP address of MOBIGATE, use the tool “Etm.exe”

2. In the “Controller Setup” of MOBIGATE, configure the serial port 1, 2, 3 and 4. The number must be increased by 1. For example please refer the figure 1.23 and click update button.

3. Then on the PC/Server side, run “VserPortConsole.exe”, use it to map the COM port with theIP address:port number of MOBIGATE





4. For each virtual serial port created, it also being displayed at “Device Manager → Ports”.





SOFTWARE: SMS ENGINE

1. Install Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0:

a) install it from the CD; or

b) download from (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en)

2. Set-up a new database or use existing database.

a) if you prefer to add a new database, then use Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manage to do so;

b) if you plan to use SMS Engine - Enterprise Edition with your existing database, then back-up yourdatabase.

3. Use Microsoft SQL Server Query Analyzer, select your preferred database, and execute the SQL script, “smsengine.sql”. The script will generate 3 tables:

a) inbox

b) outbox

c) modem_state

Note: Please make sure you have back-up your database before executing"smsengine.sql". We will not be held responsible for any data loss nordata corruption.

4. Determine the COM port number which the modem is connected to.

a) For assistance, please refer to http://www.mobitek.com.my/support/kb/KB001.htm

5. Install SMS Engine - Enterprise Edition.

a) Run the file “SMSSerivce.exe” (from CD).

6. Using Notepad, edit the configuration file “config.xml”, located at “C:\Program Files\SMS Engine Enterprise Edition\config.xml”. The contents of config.xml is as follows:

Enter the number of retry in the event if SMS cannot be sent. The total number of sending is1 + number of retry. This is a global setting that will affect all GSM modems.

<ROUTING>false</ROUTING> “True” or “False” Enter “false” to disable routing feature. Or “true” to enable it. This is a global setting that will affect all GSM modems. If it is set to “true”, then the GSM modem will send SMS only to numbers with prefix according to <TARGET_PREFIX>017,012</TARGET_PREFIX>.

N/A Setting of each GSM modem. If there are 4 modems, then there must be 4 <MODEM> nodes

<ID>1</ID> An integer, starting from 1

<ID>1</ID> Enter the identity of GSM modem.

8. Save “config.xml” after all changes are made.

9. Make sure that main power to MobiGATE is turned on.

10.Start the service.

a) Go to “Administrative Tools > Services”, look for service called “SMS Engine Enterprise Edition”,and click start.

b) At later stage, you can configure the service to start automatically at “Start-up type: Automatic”.

11.Open log file to see if service is successfully started.

a) Goto “C:\Program Files\SMS Engine Enterprise Edition\log”, log file is saved as “yyyy_mm_dd.log”.

b) Open current log file. If service is successfully started, then you will see this message:

14:08:27 Modem with ID = 2 initialized

14:08:27 Modem with ID = 1 initialized

14:08:28 SMS Engine Enterprise Edition service started

13.Once all modems/channels are successfully initialized, the cover of chassis can be closed.

14.Place chassis on server rack.






SOFTWARE: SMS ENGINE MONITOR

1. Make sure you have successfully installed SMS Engine - Enterprise Edition.

2. Install SMS Engine Monitor

a) Run “smsmonitor.exe”

3. Open SMS Engine Monitor

4. Click “Settings” button.

5. Configure the SQL Server and Monitoring

6. Click “Save” button.

7. The SMS Engine Monitor is running at System Tray. It will alert administrator via balloon message (figure below).





ALERT MESSAGE POSSIBLE CAUSE

SMS Engine service not running.

1. Service not start

GSM modem failure detected.
