Part of two special Scottish dates for The Underground Youth. In Edinburgh not only do we have amazing visuals to accompany the bands provided by the minds eye psycadelic light show, we also have a Merch stall from fuzz club records, an art stall and The Gift dj's playing inbetween bands. The Manchester based band blend the sounds of shoegaze, post-punk and psychedelic rock to create a raw and haunting wall of sound. The creative project of Craig Dyer boasts a number of digital and physical releases since it began in 2008, the most recent of which have been released by the bands label Fuzz Club Records. Born To Be Wide seminar - MUSIC MAKING MONEY: BTBW’s next seminar and social evening, takes place at Edinburgh’s Electric Circus. The discussion will focus on income sources beyond gig fees and selling releases. Confirmed speakers include Creative Scotland music officer, David Weaver, and

Glasgow-based producer/composer Kenny Inglis, whose work is regularly used in TV shows and film trailers. They will be joined by KFM Records owner Scott Macdonald, who has offset declining album sales by monetising video clips and partnering with brands. POLLY & THE BILLETS DOUX: At Electric Circus, Edinburgh. This folk-rock-roll-soul quartet play four dates in Scotland in May before unveiling their new record, Money Tree on 19 May. Known for their authentic and energy-filled live performances, the genre-defying quartet boast a genius combination of folk, rock ‘n’ roll, soul, country and even gospel. This impressive independent band have gone from strength to strength since the release of their debut album in 2010, which had them topping many ‘ones to watch’ lists. ATTICA RAGE: Scotland’s favourite rock DJ Tom Russell and heavy rock band Attica Rage will be joining forces at the official launch party of ‘The Basement Rocks’ - a brand new rock club-night in Cumbernauld. To be held in The Basement at Paps Nightclub, every Friday night, the club is hosted by legendary DJ Tom Russell and will feature live bands followed by Tom’s ‘Friday Night Rock Show’ club-night, running into the wee hours. Bread & Jam at St Boswells Cricket Club: St Boswell’s Live’s monthly jam session is becoming a firm favourite with musicians and music fans across the Borders – here’s how you can take part. From 8pm, turn up at the Cricket Club (just round the back of the Buccleuch Arms Hotel) with your instrument, voice or just a willingness to listen and enjoy the music. We have a microphone and a small amp if you want to plug things in. If you want to play then just let us know; if you want to jam then that’s what it’s all about. In the meantime, get drinks from the Cricket Club bar, listen to other people, and enjoy the free food we’ve laid on for half time (that’s where the “bread” bit comes from). Now its 43rd year, it covers a wide range of artforms from classical music and opera to rock music and drama. Concerts are staged in Perth Concert Hall and St John's Kirk. www.perthfestival.co.uk Kilmarnock's Dirty Weekender Kilmarnock 23-25 May Kilmarnock’s Dirty Weekender music festival was

established in 2012. In 2013 the event expanded with over 40 acts performing and a third venue being added to include an all agers stage. In 2014 Kilmarnock’s Dirty Weekender will see fur-ther growth with the inclusion of the 1300 ca-pacity Grand Hall venue. 2014 will also see the development and implementation of Glasgow’s Dirty Weekender. This will take place between the 28 February and the 1 March over three of the city’s venues, Pivo Pivo, Ivory Blacks and Stereo. The Dirty Weekender crew will take its years of experience and deliver a unique and di-verse event to Glasgow for the first time. www.killieweekender.com Montrose Music Festival Montrose 23-25 May Montrose Music Festival is a Scottish music festi-val which takes place at the end of May in Mon-trose, Angus. It has become a much anticipated, annual event across Scotland. The festival com-mittee is a non-profit, volunteer run organisa-tion, dedicated to promoting free live music of all styles and genres, and at all levels, in Montrose and surrounding areas.
