Assist the pharmacist in the i de ntifi cation of patie nts who de sire/require counseling, optimize the use of medications, equipment, and devices, prepare, store, and distribute medication product, collect, organize, and evaluate information for direct patient care, medication use review, and depa rtm ental management. 2. Initiate, veri fy, and a ssist in the adjud ication of, and collect payment and/or initiate billing for pharmacy goods and services. 3. Promote and maintain an image a ppropri ate for the profession of pharmacy, functi on e ffecti vely as a member o f the he alth care team, effi ciently manage one’s w ork whethe r perform ed a lone or part of a team, and demonstrate ethical conduct in all job related activities, and demonstrate a cari ng attitude t oward patients. 4. Balanc e ob li gations to one ’s self, relati onships, and wo rk in a w ay that minimizes stress, resolve conflicts through negotiation and demonstrate good customer service techni ques. 5. Identif y and explain the key components us ed w hen purchasing pharmaceutic als, devices, a nd s upplies accordi ng to an established purchasing program and identify and explain the key components o f inventory control in relation to medications, equipment, and devices. 6. Identif y and explain the use a nd side e ff ects of prescri ption and non- prescri ption medic ations use d to treat common disease states. 7. Demonstrate rece ivi ng and screening a prescription/medication orde r for completenes s and authentici ty. 8. Demonstrate prope r ase ptic technique for ste ril e compoun ding. 9. Demonstrate proper pharmacy calculations for various pediatric and adult dosages and IV admixtures. 10. Ac quir e comm and know ledge o f federal and state laws that affect the practice of pharmacy and explain the HIPAA regulation and how it

OUTCOMES/GOALS TO ACHIEVE

The students shall be able to:

 

1. Assist the pharmacist in the identification of patients who desire/require

counseling, optimize the use of medications, equipment, and devices,

prepare, store, and distribute medication product, collect, organize, and

evaluate information for direct patient care, medication use review, and

departmental management.

2. Initiate, verify, and assist in the adjudication of, and collect payment

and/or initiate billing for pharmacy goods and services.

3. Promote and maintain an image appropriate for the profession of 

pharmacy, function effectively as a member of the health care team,

efficiently manage one’s work whether performed a lone or part of a

team, and demonstrate ethical conduct in all job related activities, anddemonstrate a caring attitude toward patients.

4. Balance obligations to one ’s self, relationships, and work in a way that

minimizes stress, resolve conflicts through negotiation and demonstrate

good customer se rvice techniques.

5. Identify and explain the key components used when purchasing

pharmaceuticals, devices, and supplies according to an established

purchasing program and identify and explain the key components of 

inventory control in relation to medications, equipment, and devices.

6. Identify and explain the use and side effects of prescription and non-

prescription medications used to treat common disease states.

7. Demonstrate receiving and screening a prescription/medication order for

completeness and authenticity.

8. Demonstrate prope r aseptic technique for sterile compounding.

9. Demonstrate proper pharmacy calculations for various pediatric and

adult dosages and IV admixtures.

10. Acquire command knowledge of federal and state laws that affect the

practice of pharmacy and explain the HIPAA regulation and how it

pertains to pharmacy.

11. Obta in technician certification.
